Default Does anyone know what this wire is for? (Torro King Tiger infrared version)

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know what this wire is for? It is soldered to the underside of the control board and goes up into the turret.

Regards,
Ryan

Thanks Cirus for your quick reply. My next question is how would I connect this wire to an IBU2 or TK22?

No, it should connect right to the flash. Stand by and I'll look for some diagrams for you.

OK try this

You can see the flash unit (on the left with the square yellow sticker with the little red lightning bolt), and the wire you're looking at is in that bundle on the left (EDIT: that's wrong, the wire you showed attaches to the recoil unit. Upper left in the photo and you can see the red wire there with the bare metal end). It should be connected to the main power to the MFU (EDIT: the wire that plugs into that bare metal end on the red wire will attach to the power wires, I believe to the black wire), and it will just stay right there when you plug into the IBU. Let me know if this does the trick 'cause I have other diagrams if you need clarification. Hope that helps.

If you have an Asiatam /Taigen style recoil it connects to that. The recoil unit and the connector it mates with are shown in the top left of the diagram that Crius posted.

The Torro KT comes with the asiatam recoil so that should be it.

And Dusty is absolutely right and I was wrong. The wire is not in that bundle on the left, it attaches at the upper left corner of the recoil unit in the photo. Good catch, Dusty.

You might also check where it is soldered on the board. I have a similar wire on my Taigen Sherman that turned out to be a ground wire for the IR unit (according to IMEX) that shares ground with the fan wiring. I stumbled on it while dealing with the cooling fan. I cannot say whether or not it is part of the Xenon flash (I haven't traced it that far) but if it is the same then I would think that all you would need to do is reconnect it to ground on the new board.

That looks like a newer board, as does the one in the original poster's photo. They used to attach the ground for the flash to the wires running from the on/off to the MFU. We should probably get Erik in on this. He'll know for sure.

Gday all,

First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for their help and input. I honestly did not expect so many replies. Now with that said I did some rooting around and it turns out the wire in question is the ground for the IR unit.
