Default Tartan Twin 77 gas

Does anyone have any info good or bad about this engine? I got it in a plane I picked up at a swap meet. It starts and runs great. Don't know if I should fly it or put it in a museum.

Search in RC Groups for Tartan, lots of discussion there. Good luck

Since it was designed for glow(?) what gas/oil ratio should it use? Thanks.

That is probably not a bad idea. The 20x8 is what was on it.

It is really hard to find anything on the recomded mix. I have it at a strong 32:1 mix.

""recommended mix Ratio""

my manual says 10% for Glow Fuel and recommends straight Castor, but Mr, Jim Cline (whom imported Tartans for years) told me straight Synthetic is fine to use,

I have a Tartan Flyer that read's to use %5 Oil for Gasoline, but it doesn't say what Oil (
Synthetic, Petroleum or Castor ??)

""7900 with a 20X8""

those numbers seam high, maybe you have a modified engine, many people
modified these twins back in the day,, are you turning an APC ?? a good wood prop would load an engine more than an APC of the same size,, please tell me what fuel your are burning and what brand Prop, wood, plastic or carbon,

what mufflers are on your engine ??

I still have not got around to starting mine

I may not have made it clear. This engine is running on gas. It is turning a wood master airscrew. I have to guess they are stock mufflers. It does have s cdi ignition.

mufflers

the mufflers in my photos are the stock mufflers, I have seen larger square mufflers about the twice the size in my photo, I think Tartan made them, and Bisson make round mufflers that look to be almost twice the size of stock mufflers
