Hughes H-1 1/4 scale
My name is kiriakos. I’m new to the forum and I have to say that it is rather useful. I am thinking of building my first r/c plane from plans and the subject is not other than the Hughes H-1 racer. The model will de ¼ to scale the long wing version and an all wood construction. Latter on I will try to post pictures.
Happy landings.

Here are the first pieces that will form the formers of the fuselage. I used the iron to paste the drawning onto the wood. So that's how it begins.
Many more to come.
Happy landings.

I love the H-1. Good choice! Where did you get the plans you are using? I have been looking for a giant scale kit for the H-1 but I guess there is not enough demand. I look forward to your build. Please keep posting pictures as you progress.

Kir, welcome aboard to RCU and what an entrance with a build of such a great airplane.
I'm glad you found out from your first post not to try to cut and paste anything other than pure text from a simple text program such as Notepad to the forum. There was a bucket load of oddball code in your first post to edit out.
To you others. I don't know of a set of model plans for the H1 but the Peter Westburg drawings of the two versions of the H-1 are a great way to get started on your own version.

RE: Hughes H-1 1/4 scale
Hello again.
The plans are from VTH.de but it was the short wing version. So I had to modify a bit the fuselage
and draw a new pair of wings. That was a task that performed by a felow modeler, who was kind enough
to help me with my new wings. Thanks a lot Pantelis.
BMatthews sorry about that, by the time I realized what happened the first time, it was to late.

I ordered a set of plans from VTH. Thanks to Google Translation I was able to get through the process. I went back to look at the listing for the plans but now can't find it. I had just entered H-1 into the search box the first time and it was one of the results. Now It will not show up. Kir, can you post a link to the plans page please? I think others will find it helpful.
Thanks

RE: Hughes H-1 1/4 scale
Hello Skott.
The plans had the center section of the wing, fixed on the fuselage and the wing itself, was in two pieces.
But, I wanted the wing in one piece, for more strength and less weight. So I had to form a new saddle for my
wing to rest. Another change I made was at the tail section, were I wanted the controls hidden and instead
of a fixed tail skid, a retracted tail wheel.
Anyway, I think that along with the progress you will see all of these changes.
As for the link I hope this will work.

Hope I could help you with the link.
Happy landings

RE: Hughes H-1 1/4 scale
Well I just checked the link my self.
All you have to do is to write at the empty field next to Suchen nach: " Hughes H-1 " and it will redirect you to
the page with the H-1 plans. The 1/4 scale is the Hughes H-1B (3216524)
Or try the link above.

Hello everyone.
Today i'm going to post some pics from the construction of the rudder and elevator.
So, lets begin with the rudder. Here you can see the first pieces joined together.

The printed lines from the plans on the balsa with the use of the iron, were usefull to find were to fit the pieces. Besides from cuting them.

RE: Hughes H-1 1/4 scale
Hello again fellow modelers.
I decided to build a jig for the construction of the fuselage.
I found this cind of jig somewhere in the internet and found it very simple to make it.
After the completion of the jig i started to put the formers in place starting from the tail section.

Hello again fellow modelers.
Thank you very much etotheo. And here is some more progress..
Next thing to do was to put a spar on the formers and test fit the stab and rudder
