Default FOD Screen 2300

Hello Ed and Kevin,

Got my new 2300. Thanks.

Will like to get/make a FOD screen for it. I don't think Simjet make one. Understand a kitchen strainer may work.
Any hint/recommendation on adapting the strainer, or shoud it be 'obvious' how to secure it?
Do you know if any of the jetcat ones will work?

Thanks,
Edgar

Hello Edgar,

I don't know if any of the JetCat ones will fit- I suspect not though as I believe JC uses a smaller diameter starter motor. I would recommend a the adapeted strainer route, using O-rings to secure it over the starter.

Permit me to say, yes they will work with Simjets. I have used one in my 1700 with total success.

Thanks BirdofpraY. Photos help a lot.

So the o-ring goes across the starter, right? What about the side that goes into the turbine. Do I need an o-ring or any other method to secure it?
regards,

I just use a o-ring on the outside of the FOD screen, this holds the screen on. Just roll it over the starter until it meets the FOD. the o-ring is not shown in the pictures.

I also suggest you take some 1/4" foam tape (like wing seating tape) and wrap it around the flange of the strainer where it meets the turbine.

I ran a bead of goop around the edge also.
