Fuel shutoff
Kevin or Ed,
In your opinion, does the cockpit switch qualify as a manual fuel shutoff(per new AMA regs),or do I have to install a festo with a valve? Also,I am very pleased with my 2300.It has performed flawlessly.Just did the maiden on my F-15,and all went well. Thanks,
Erik

RE: Fuel shutoff
Hi Erik,
That's a tough one for me to answer since it'll be the individual event CD that you'll have to convince... I know the AMA was supposed to clarify the intent behind the wording on that section of the new rules, but I have not as of yet seen that clarification.
Arguably, since (as I understand it) removing power from the fuel pump has been accepted as a remote fuel shut-off provision AND since the solenoid is also an accepted shut-off which in the case of SimJet turbines also has a local control (the ECU switch) you could argue that you are in compliance without the need for an additional manual cut-off.
Having said that, I've yet to come across a jet that didn't have room to add a Festo-type cut-off valve, it may save you much argument (if anyone decides they want to check) to just put a manual valve in too... I have one for each turbine in my Facet 2400T.
Congrats on the first flight!
