simjet nexus => destroyed compressor
Hello
Today, during the full thrust test on the ground (118 000 rpm), just before take off, my nexus stop suddenly.
When i removed it from the fuselage, I saw the destroyed compressor. The engine has an anti foreign material (roast) , it did not aspire anything.
The compressor "exploded" all alone!
Have you already saw that?
Best regards,
Sébastien

RE: simjet nexus => destroyed compressor
Hi Kerry,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
I contacted simjet several times, but nothing, never, no answer. i 'm really disappointed by this lack of serious.
I have 6 simjet turbines. All works great, releability, power, no problem, they are good turbines, but the after sell service is really poor, it's a shame.
That harms to simjet enormously, I don't understand that these leaders did not understand it. They are dedicated to disappear if they continue like that!
There is no more customer for the engines simjet in france. There is much competition (jet cat, merlin, g booster, franck, ) and this problem of after sell is very serious
I am really furious
My nexus is go out at rescue turbinen in Germany (more serious!!) , and it's my last simjet... end for me with simjet turbinen [:'(]!
Best regard,
Sébastien
PS: For information,
- i heard at least 3 nexus in france with this same issue on the compressor... (all with FOD screen of course)
- see the after sell / contacting issue on RCU...: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6030869/tm.htm / http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5836449/tm.htm /

RE: simjet nexus => destroyed compressor
Hi
Just an observation. In the photo there is an M3 socket cap screw missing from the small circuit board?
Have you removed it or could it have come out and gone into the compressor?

Hello,
i didn't remove the screw, There wasn't any screw at this place. (only one for the electronic plate mount)
And anyway, the screws can't to be sucked, there is the front cover !
The engine was repaired by rescue turbinen in germany, perfect.

RE: simjet nexus => destroyed compressor
Many rumors are spreading around since last year saying Simjet pulling off this market.
Nexus is 4 years old, no new engine released since, support ? No support anymore ![]
As an advise, go to other brands and try to resale all you Simjet engines before being
obliged to live them in your museum....

Hi Sébastien,
I fully understand your points and can appricaite your position.
I work very hard here is the USA supporting SimJets and we actually had a good sales year in 2009 despite the economoy.
I have not seen or have been advised that SimJet-Dk has any intensions of moving away from R/C Turbines or support.
I'm please to hear that your NEXUS is back up and running.
If I can be of help at any time, in any way, please contact me.
Brg.

Dear Delahaye 53,
Why are you spreading up such a bad comment against Simjet ? The fact they are very busy with UAV market does not mean that the company is no longer handling customer support. I am sure that you do know where the Simjet customer lack of support in France is comming from? it's not a reason to blame the turbine manufacturer. I can tell you that still many Simjet turbine are running trouble free in Southern France.
Please feel free to contact me should you need any support with your Simjet turbine.
Regards,

RE: simjet nexus => destroyed compressor
Hi MLJETS,
Thanks for your message. In don't want to spread such rumors about Simjet but simply retransmitting what I heard in Germany last september.
I do have a Nexus and I'm very please with it. I don't talk about the support, this is another subject that everybody knows.
Was Simjet promoting something new in september? I didn't have a chance to see them.
Even more... John Wright didn't mention Simjet contribution in his lasr RCJI issue ( Strange ? )
That's why I'm worrying about spare parts if Simjet being more busy in other domains, decide to quite this activity.
Stay tune.
Regards

Hi
You can replace the old cast compressor wheel to a new one that are lathe and milled.
I plan to do that with my Nexus before it,s break.
Here in Sweden we have a turbine "Doctor" CS turbine service. He can also make all new part if they not are avalible
from the manufakture anymore.
I can strongly recomand this company. [link=http://www.csturbine.se/se/]Link[/link]

Hi!
I have already done it, and I can run my Nexus now on 120,000 rpm with the same temp as I had at 116,000 rpm before. It now produce close to 17 kgs at 120,000 rpm :-).

Hi
I don't know what's happends with the company.
But I knowing for sure that the new compressor wheel works verywell.
And in a near future it's also posible to convert it to kerostart.
So if you have a broken Nexus, sell it to me
This is a very good engine but with this improvments it,s a very good engine.
