RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr. Brushless
srt10.
It seems we are in agreeance about the TP Power motors. I'm a big fan of them.
But all the 'D' wind motors I have are run with 1- 3.5 degres of timing. Everything I've read suggests that D wind motors don't like a lot of timing. I only run the 'Y' wind motors at 15 degrees.
Mikeup.
I've seen ply laid into hulls before but I've never done it myself. It's fine when building up from a bare hull. But if the mount is already in there, as in many of these ARTR boats, then the carbon rods are so much easier. No need to take the mounts out to fit the ply.
Joshsubmec.
I've just come back from the lake with the guys running two of these boats. In an earlier post I stated they were running the 2200kv 3674 motor. I was wrong it is the 2075 kv version. This one from HOR.

I lent one of my 440/3 race props to one of them & it was a fast, good handling boat. Almost on the edge of being over powered.
It will work well on a 2000kv motor too.

Prop:

The only thing i need though is a 5mm motor to 3/16 flex shaft. Does anyone have a link for one at hobby king?
Does this all look good? If so I'm going to put in my order when i find the shaft convertor and get back to you with my build.
Thanks

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr. Brushless
The only suggestion I have is to get a 40 mm 3 blade prop like the one I got or like srt10 I believe said the 42x55 grim racer prop. I couldn't find the coupler on hobbyking forcing me to make a separate order somewhere else. Other then that everything looks great...oh one quick little bit of info that esc which by the way is the same I got is going to need to be waterproofed with some encapsulating epoxy that is non conductive making for a completely waterproof esc. Good luck on your build!!

785boats, I am running a 3674 1900kv not 2000 like I said before so that was my bad, on 4s with a 42x55 grim racer prop and or a x440/3. Are the boaters you were with running 4s??

Also how long might I be able to run with a total of 10,000 mah in there at about 3/4 throttle constant. Is there some sorta calculator or math I could do to figure this or is it something you time yourself when your out on the lake?

and runtime on 10,000mah.. you need amp draw and we could figure this out
but lets say your pulling a constant 55amps then your runtime would be about 9min

and I buy most everything from OSE

Josh.
Yep they are running 4s. 5000mah single battery in the center.
The 44 x 55 prop will work great on that motor as will the 440/3. I personally prefer 3 blade props on monos as I feel they are more settled in the corners at full noise.
You don't want to run 10000mah in this little boat. Two 5000mah 4s packs will weigh it down a lot. And running it for that long will probably overheat things. Best to run for 4 or so minutes, give it a rest so things can cool out, have a drink, change the battery & go out again. Put the other battery on charge. Repeat the process. The day lasts a lot longer that way.
Not such a good idea to troll around at 3/4 throttle. The ESC can get hotter at partial throttle than they do at full throttle.
Bob.
Everything looks good for that setup. But like srt10 said, you need larger batteries. At both the clubs I'm in, no one runs anything under 5000mah 40c, whether it's 4s, 6s, 8s, or 10s.

785boats, they are 2s in series giving me 4s in total. When it was running I put two 4s batteries in parallel in there and it ran fine so I think it'll do alright.
Srt10 thanks for the link! And I bought all my hardware from them just not the motor esc battery setup

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr. Brushless
O.K and my very few last questions (hopefully)
Are you still going to run your electronics box without the batteries.
Can you still seal thundertigers boats even though they have those water runoffs at the back of the hatch?
Where are you mounting your batteries? If you look at a picture online of the desperado where should i mount mine?
What size coupler do I want? my motor is a 5mm shaft but i dont know the size of the desperados flex shaft.

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr. Brushless
I am doing away with my electronics box, I am making mounts for my servo and I also made a platform for my esc and receiver. For sealing the boat, I might bondo those little runoffs in the back and use hatch tape to seal the canopy. Judgin by pictures of the jr. You should have plenty of room in the pontoon section to mount your batteries. For a flex shaft coupler, I did a search for what size your flex shaft is and absolutely no info on size besides the length so I can't really help you with that one...[:@] Hope this answers most of your questions.

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr. Brushless
Well i emailed thunder tiger and they said the stock flex shaft is only 3mm. Do you think that it could handle the power or should i just get a 4mm flex shaft? Would a 4mm shaft fit stock?
