Here goes!! Some of you will remember the 42" 80's model MRP Fountain i got off ebay for fairly cheap..............I had asked for opinions on setup and i got help from several members........Wakeboard, N.H., Monster and Klaben to name a few......thanks! I found the time and energy to give it a go! Heres what i have accomplished so far................it gonna be cool when finished!! I'm kinda excited, its gonna be a beauty..............i'll make sure of that!!

Cool. So did you finalize your plan for what you're going to drive it with? I've been kicking around whether I should do a similar sized inexpensive Falcon cat hull from china/ebay so I'd be curious what what performance you're expecting.

I have ordered a Feigao 11XL (1577kv) should be here any day..........and it will have a Turnigy 120a ESC ( they are darn near bulletproof). Surface piercing drive will push it on 6s. Be enough goose in anyones opinion? Thanks for lookin" mick!

I have to agree on the Turnigy... Another nice thing is that they do auto low-voltage detection, built in BEC, and the single connections are easy to solder. I'm sorry that my Castle 240 LV fails on all three of those points!

Hopefully you'll hit mid 40s or better with that setup... But that ol' 42 sounds a tad big/heavy, not sure. YOu'll have to let us know.

No................its actually ridiculously light..........feather light.........but rigid too.......dont know the exact composite makeup but ive never seen one like this..............Im gonna weigh it completely dry just for kicks.

Think it might be wise to get the Turnigy 180 instead of the 120.

Brod..............suprisingly the 11XL only pulls about 60-80 amps..................Heres a handy chart for the Feigao's. Thanks for lookin!!

Don't think of "max amps" for maximum amp draw (I mean, how could that be misunderstood!! ). The "max amps" rating is a measure of amp draw when output peaks in efficiency. I have a 9L that I've measured over 160 amps on due to it being propped at a level that was just a wee little bit less than ideal!! Fortunately I didn't smoke my 125A Suppo controller but that did explain why it was 180F after a short test run.

Yeah, I use the basics for propping.............Ryans chart as well, and it would seem like staying on the conservative side of any prop range works best for me. This should most likely fall into the x442-x447 range.......probably start with 442. Seems like all my boats end up in the 442-447 range............hmmmmmm?

Added some flair to the solid color.............seemed logical. Now what about going with the Exxon theme.........ya know, "put a tiger in your tank" and "Exxon" decals. Or, just leave it like it is.......El tigre'.

I'm not a huge fan of the tiger paintjob, but the orange is fantastic and the overall quality of your work is amazing. looks like its going to be a top boat overall. hopefully your power source will be a kicker too, that boat needs to scoot along so it can catch its prey

Edit: also the decals seem like a great idea, much better than using a certain character who shall not be named, but I'm sure he would think your boat is "ggggggGGREEAAAT!" I like the exxon, but the other two area fantastic as well, overall I don't think you will go wrong. Can't wait to see it scootin along the water, keep up the good work

Thanks Kwaka! All comments and input are highly valued and appreciated! There was actually a law suit against Exxon by Kellogs for using a similar tiger...............The glossy orange was actually mixed with a second coat of gold flake. I did my own "metallic" paintwork. First coat of orange after sanded primer.........then a thin coat of orange, followed quickly by a dusting of gold..........then another coat of orange quickly over that to "mix" em together. It looked real nice just orange, but staring at a nearly 4 foot boat in person, that single color, was kinda boring. I like the stripes.........had to do something and didnt want to just throw a whole bunch of numbers and sponsor decals on it............the "Exxon" theme would be a couple of well placed decals near the back on the side..............maybe the tiger deal in front of the cockpit.

Sounds great, I do alot of paint work on bigger things like motorbikes and that paint mix sounds great. Theres one combo I've always wanted to try on a big RC boat or car which is what I used on one of my motorbikes. after priming, hit it with a silver basecoat with added large metallic bits, then after thats done hit it with a few nice coats of a semi transparent Cyan blue thats had a bit of pearl added to it, then clear. turns out really nice but expensive to do with the pearl

IMO, an 11XL on 6s is not enough for a 42" hull, lots of drag from this big of boat... Plus motor speeds of 35,000 rpm is way to much for such a small motor in a big hull
but if proped right and speeds kept in the 30's is could be ok, but for some real speed with this big of a hull you will need a bigger motor
a Medusa 3680 would be better, a 580 would work real nice, and better yet a NEU 1518 and better again a NEU 1520

they all start out light until you add all the harware and batteries..
it is a long hull and will have lots of drag, the motor and esc will not last IMO specially spinning over 35,000 rpm
small prop on a big hull could be very slow
I'm running a 45mm prop on my Titan 29 and a smaller prop on it would be much to slow for me

a 14XL or even a 15XL would be a better choice if you want to stay with that style and brand of motor

Looks good, but you need less angle on the strut
With that angle the boat will run very wet and cause a lot of drag and the motor will pull more amps

Ok...............i think its ready for a maiden! [X(]Using a 45mm plastic prop to start out............i feel it will be "easier" on the system to start out. Found an old rudder bracket and made my own rudder, cost like 50 cents to make! The whole water cooling system was very inexpensive.....all custom made by myself............saved alot of $$ on this boat. Thanks for looking!! Any and all comments or input is appreciated!!

rounding out the trailing edge on the rudder will cause problems!
it needs to stay square with sharp edges

and your prop? is it a 45mm like what you said up above or a 42mm like in your other thread?
45mm prop spinning 35,000rpm on this hull and such a small motor will cause lots and lots of heat
I run a 45mm prop on my SV with decent speeds and also on my Titan 29 with explosive hole shots and speeds

I have a 45mm plastic on it now............the black one. I think i may try it out first...........if it gets hot in 45 seconds or so i'll throw the octura berylium 42 on. I read of many boat vets rounding slightly on the trailing edge..............

I may grind it down square.........got enough rudder left to lose a couple mm's at the back.
