Default How to make a Cat. backwards slightly???

Hey guys.

Im only a "kid" in building cats., and would like making it possible to go a bit backwards, in case im getting to near the cliff, or in moulded water.

Do you have any suggestion about this.

Other boats like Tugs and cruisers, its no matter to make the boats going backwards (know from Smit Rotterdam and the old Admiral from Billings/DMI) on which i also are doing some buildings.

I believe you would need an ESC that offers reverse like those used in land vehicles.

Some marine ESCs have a reverse - many of the Castles or the Turnigy 180 Marine for example. That is the only practical method to reverse an electric powered boat.

Sorry guys

The issue is more to be sure the flexshaft (motorend) doesnt vent loose on backwards.

Is it possible to set in a STOP-bearing in front of the shafttube by the motorcoupling, like in classic modelboats?

I allready have the T180s. for my very first cat, and barely cant wait for the r2hobbies-hull to arrive.

Bought a plate of 2 mm carbon, to make a light motormounting; and 4 packs of batteries too (2x3s)

In order to get the hull more racing-suitable, i have ordered some real carbonsheet for the inner-hull, just like Keith Bradley did with the Explorer.

All,you need is a shaft saver that clamps on the cable between collet and shaft tube in case a cable ever gets loose you wont lose your prop ,you should run these wether running reverse or not its good practice. You can also use small zip ties .
