Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr build
Figured I'd start up a build thread for my outlaw jr. Got this boat a while back and haven't really done much to it till now. What I have now is basically a thunder tiger outlaw hull and a bunch of aftermarket parts. Nothing is stock on this boat, I will be running a leapord 3674 1900kv motor with a 160 amp aquastar esc on 2 2s 40c 5000 mah batteries running in series giving me a total of 4s and 10,000 mah. I have a .150 flex cable going out to a x440/3 or a 42x55 grim racer prop. I bought my motor, esc, and batteries from hobbyking and the running hardware from OSE. Hope to get this build goin as soon as all my parts come in on Monday. Right now the boat hull sits empty with the stock plastic mounting bracket , that was glued to the hull, removed.

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr build
just a quick note - you will have 4s and 5,000mAh with that setup.
If you ran the batteries parallel you would have 2s 10,000mAh.

Nice ride there Josh.
Now I see where the confusion started on the other thread about the weight of the packs. When you asked about 10000mah I assumed you were talking about 2 x 4s packs in parallel.
But no, in series the voltage doubles but the capacity & the max amps remain the same.
In parallel the capacity & max amps doubles but the voltage stays the same.
Looking forward to the build.
Paul.

Thanks haha, and thanks for the info, I think i'll be fine running 5000mah. I don't race or anything so i don't need the extra pack life. And me to, can't wait to get the parts and start on it.

Alright did some work on the boat, mounted all my transom hardware i.e. rudder assembly, trim tabs, and turn fins. Don't mind the ugly wood blocks on the back, I'm gunna clean all that up so it won't be so ugly. Bought all these parts from offshore electrics who did a real good job on shipping. Here are some pics of what I did...

How far back should I put the motor? Or is that much of a big deal if I use the batteries to adjust the Cg of the motor being farther forward

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr build
Depends whether or not you are running two packs at the side or one pack in the centre.
One pack, & I like to get the motor as far back as possible & still be able to get at the mounting screws . This allows plenty of space to move the pack for balance.
Two packs & you can move it a bit further forward if you like & then as you say, balance the boat by moving the batteries.
Here's a set up both ways in a couple of 25" hulls.
Personally I think a centre mounted pack handles better.

Hi, I am going to go with the setup you got in the yellow boat, that's how I thought in the beginning but wasn't for sure yet. Thanks for the pics

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr build
I have given up on my desperado . My 2100mah batteries can only just fit in the side of the hull let alone 5000mah. I don't know about my flex shaft be because if I upgrade to 4mm I don't know what else I will have to buy and blah blah blah. Catamarans don't even really work for me as I run in the ocean out the front of my house. Been out 12 times, 11/12 times the boat has flipped.

Sorry to hear that man.. There's no lakes anywhere near you? Maybe switch to monos, not sure how much less times your gunna flip one of them in the ocean though. I didn't realize how wide these 5000's really are.. I thought they would just be long and not wide. Hope you figure something out to get a build goin.

Shoot yeah thanks for those! I am pretty happy with this build, it has come together real nice. Last thing I need to do is bondo in this drain ports that come off from the hatch.

No worries guys.
I had the camera there (such as it is), to get some video of my 'Outer Limits' Maiden run. So it was all easy.
Josh the strut will be fine. The adjustments will still work. In fact the standard stinger is too long & for this boat & needs to be cut down & the bushes reinstalled.
All the best.
Paul.

Paul, how is that outer limits? Not the same one from hobbyking is it? If so looks like a pretty nice boat. Ok good to know, I hope to run it today

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr build
Yep. It's the TFL offering from Hobby King.
I'd never done a stepped hull before so I thought I'd give it a go. And without jacking your thread I'd like to say that it's one of the best ARR hulls I've seen, and I've done a few.
I'll do a bit of a build/review. The Vidio is up on my youtube channel if you want to see it go.
Cheers.

RE: Thunder Tiger Outlaw Jr build
It's fine I don't mind haha, I was lookin at that boat before I bought all the parts for my outlaw. Didn't buy it cause I Hate lookin at an unfinished project. I started a build thread for a catamaran also as I have an extra shaft and rudder comin Monday. Anyways back to the outlaw, there's not much left to say about my boat except that I need better sealing on the boat...
