Default Hull bottom finish

What's best for speed? A sanded bottom or a waxed bottom?

I wonder how this stuff would make a boat perform. [link=http://www.break.com/video/can-this-product-really-keep-liquids-out-of-everything-2464694]NeverWet[/link]

No wax, that's for slow boats. The fastest R/C boats use a sanded bottom. Just as or more important than the finish is having a perfectly flat surface with sharp edges.

I have seen that product, but I have no idea if would be better than a sanded bottom.

I usually sand mine with some #400 paper.
But I did buy some of this the other day to try. Probably a similar technology to the Never Wet. I haven't used it yet. We'll see next week.

I don't know how it would work as a bottom coating due to the constant friction but I'd have little fear of a wet receiver using it. It could be better than Corrosion X and many swear by that stuff for keeping their receivers dry

What friction?
These products are designed to have no friction. Water won't stick to them.
All we can do is try it. Even 1mph can be the difference between 3rd & 1st in some races.
