Default H/King pursuit vs H/King outerlimits hull

Im still undecided as to what hull type to go for, im now swaying towards a mono
I have known about the pursuit mono on hobbyking for some time and it seams to be quite
a fast stable boat. However i see there is now this avaailable the outerlimits mono see link below
http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...or_870mm_.html

Both boats have a motor fitted etc and are the same price. anyone have any thoughts on witch one would
be better on handling and top speed on 5s?

The stock electronics leave something to be desired in HK boats, most people end up gutting them fairly soon, lol usually after the esc goes up in smoke!
Being said I do have a 29" hull made by the same manufacturer as the Pursuit (hk buys from them), it's a very good hull for the price, many people buy the bare Pursuit hull from other places and build some quality race boats, it's a good handling hull, tons of setup info out there about them.
Most common is a leopard 4074 or 4082 motor, turnigy 180 esc, the 3660 it comes with from HK is really too small for a boat that size.
The other hull LOOKS nice but I haven't heard much yet about people running them.

Thanks for the reply, I found a video of the outerlimits hull the other
Day but can't find it again now. It did seam to handle, but like you say
So does the pursuit. If I find it I will add a link, can I just ask if I were to
Put a leopard motor in the pursuit would the motor mount need replacing
Where they have a larger can size?

Cheers

Hi Leny the outer limits hull is made by TFL ,the build quality is quite nice on them.I may have some bare hulls in stock soon I agree with Husky the internals aren't the best for long term use but if you don't mind replacing sooner rather than later theyre not bad.Personally id get a bare hull and do it yourself. The Pursuit is a bigger boat not quite as long but quite a bit wider and deeper just not as nice looking.

Well I've raced the pursuit & I now also have an outer limits boat.
The pursuit is a much better handling hull. The outer limits, being a stepped hull & a shallow V, gets very skippy in the corners at full noise. The turn fin is vertical like the rudder & the boat displays all the characteristics of the European/Asian racing videos that you see. You need o back off the throttle in the turns. Don't get me wrong, I love this boat. the last run I did with it on the stock TFL motor was with a Y547 prop & the motor didn't get hot, The boat was pretty quick too.

I actually prefer the Smash Shark p1 boat ,it has no steps just the relief cuts in the chine rails should handle better id think. That said I think some mods done to the outer limits hull to accommodate the fin been fitted correctly would also help that boat.Another possible improvement could be to try a skegegd strut instead of the stinger and remove the fin,may work well.

Thanks for all the info guys. I am swaying towards the pursuit.
The h/k one only has a motor no esc, I would change the motor
To a leopard eventually.
I do have a swordfish 120amp esc not doing anything, it's rated at 6s
So I'm thinking if I disconnect the bec and run 5s this should be ok?
What do you think?

Actually the custom SSS motor from TFL is powerful & efficient, without heating problem. And if buy directly from TFL, they could upgrade the motor before delivery, as siberianhusky[/b]said, change a 4074 or 4082 motor. And assembled with ESC before EX works.

Hi May.
Welcome aboard.

And if buy directly from TFL, they could upgrade the motor before delivery, as siberianhusky said, change a 4074 or 4082 motor. And assembled with ESC before EX works.
That is good information for a lot of people, I would think.

Martin.
I too would like to have a play with the Smash Shark. It looks like it would be a good runner to me.
Unfortunately I haven't had time to play around with the turn fin options on my Outer Limits yet. But it will happen.

Well I managed to get a 2nd Hand pursuit last week, it's
Going to need a bit of work but I got it for a good price,
And mart from waveridermouldings has been more than helpful
and is going to help me out with the parts I need so a big thankyou
to him.
I'm just in the process of planning where I'm going to mount things.
I can't decide weather it is best to mount my lipos up front or down the
Sides, what position makes this thing more stable in corners etc?
