Default MICKIEBEEZ 1/6 scale Jetsprints.

Hello guys, this is a project i have been working on for the past 9 months, finally i can offer 30mm Jet units and Sprint Boat hulls.
The jet units are Injection Molded ABS, with an Alloy 3 bladed 30mm impeller, units also have adjustable trim ( so you can hook up a 3rd channel to change it on the go)
The hulls are 610mm long, come in White Fiberglass, if you buy the kit which is the Jet unit, Hull combination you will also get the Alloy rollcage with CNC'd clamps and 2 dummy drivers.
For orders please visit my Facebook page under " Mickiebeez".

Nice work looks like it will go even better once you sort out the cog a little to get rid of the hopping.

Hi Guys,
Here is the latest run today, reasonably happy , have decided to redo the molds for the lower half as , I am now going to remove some of the lifting strakes to get the boat to settle down in the water abit more, The 3 hulls I have already pulled out of the molds I will sell for half price with lower strakes removed ( sanded).
The hull ride attitude needed the trim all the way down and the battery up the front, pity it was such a windy day as the boat still jumped around a little because of the waves.

I have now got a Facebook page under " Mickiebeez"

Heres todays run, removed the lower lifting strake, just got to move the C of G forward and I am sure it will settle it down. I think the jet unit may be a little too much for this hull as it is sucking the back down more than I thought, lifting the bow too much , hence the skipping.

100% Take care guys

Have you tried trimming the nozzle to tame the porpoising?

Trimming the nozzle down a bit might fix all that. I've even had to install trim tabs on a boat that had a disproportionally powerful pump. But it was worth the effort! Good looking boat and drive, btw.

Yes it still hops a bit, even with just a little throttle applied. It's as if it has some rocker in the hull. With the length of that pump & nozzle it should have plenty of leverage to settle it when trimmed downwards. Can you post a pic of the bottom of the boat?

Hi Sundogz.
The bottom is straight, i am thinking on removing all of the lifting strakes, wondering if the unit is fighting the strakes??? i will upload some pictures after work. Still playing around with a few things, but will run out of ideas soon.

Yes, you may need to remove or modify the strakes. On a Jet Sprint they are primarily used to reduce side-slipping (drifting) anyways, and your keel will do that. That may be the problem.

, if the removal of the strakes, i may CNC out another plug, this time about 100mm longer, my other theory is that the back end of the hull is being sucked down too much ( too efficient unit) in comparison to the hull width and length.
I am giving it another run this weekend, so i will see how it goes with the strakes removed.
Cheers Mick

Sounds good. If you get a chance, do post some pics of the bottom of this boat.

I have done just that, if i put too much more weight up there the C of G is way out of place.

Sorry, been away a bit. Saw the new video. Mickie, those (remaining) strakes shouldn't be causing that porpoising. The bottom looks good. Didn't it make a difference when you trimmed (the jet drive nozzle) down? It should have brought the nose down hard. If it didn't, then I agree with Fuma, move that batteries forward until it stops bouncing. The center of gravity is determined after it smooths out and rides correctly. You aren't quite there yet. Once you've moved the COG enough to stop the porpoising, it may heat things up a bit more (iIt's all give and take). If that's unacceptable, you can always install trim tabs. But I think it will be fine. Plenty of power with that drive/motor combo.

Hi Sundogz,
Mate, the trim made a huge difference, also adding a little more weight up in the nose also helped, maybe a tad too much power in the jet.

I thought that would help. Maybe a tad too much power, but we won't quibble about that! Looking forward to the latest video
