I saw your video and the boat looks good, I saw a few things of concern though, I saw when the boat flip and came back over, I think you should oil that motor, I hope no water got inside because that could mean opening the motor and oil the rotor and re oil the bearings. Corrosion on the rotor can cause total damage to the motor, also I have learn that water proof speed controls can still get damaged from water, I have lost one water proof speed control and had two affected by water for the year, so I would usual put tape to seal the hatch.

I would definitely cover all holes on my boat if I was in your position.

And last of all I would recomend making the hatch as light as possible.

Ok, good tip about the motor, never thought of it. Should I just spray the heck out of the bearings with WD40 of something or should I actually open it up?

I'm debating how to mount a cover. I don't just want to tape a large flat piece of plexiglass on there and I want.........*epiphany* I got it. i'll seal the air holes in the rear cover, remove the hinges and make it a tape down hatch, then make smaller hatch to tape down in the forward hole. I'll have two hatches to tape, but that's ok, Only need to untape the front one to change batteries.

I still have water outlets to buy and install and finish plugging the unused outlet holes, but if I make it look good, I can't call it the "ugly mono" anymore. LOL

If you can get some transmission fluild you can probably throw some in a cup and soak the motor for 5 or 10 seconds and take it out.

Tape down hatch is very common with rc boats, in fact alot of higher quality boats have a tape down hatch.

I make emphasis about being as light as possible because, when the weight goes up, prop efficiency comes down and in my experience you can lose alot of speed just by adding a few ounces. I have experience first hand that you can lose 20 to 30 miles per hour just by adding 1 pound extra to some boats.

I've removed the hinges from the back cover, plugged the vent holes and started to make a front hatch cover.
