Default zippkits JAE fe motor ?

hello, just wondering if any one is running the zippkits jae fe 21 size rigger ? my concern is what motor size should i buy ? i know they say the 36 mm diameter but wondering if an Aquastar 3974 - 2200kv motor would be ok plus would it fit in the tub ok ? apparently the diameter with cooling ring is 49mm [ just under 2 inches ] any advice would be great. thanks.

That aquastar 3974 motor is great, if it will fit I would be a good buy.

yes i was thinking on buying the Aquastar 3974 but was told it could be a very tight fit in the jae tub so i went for the Turnigy XK 3674 , the specs on both motors look like the Turnigy is the faster motor eg 1750 watts compared to 1200 watts on the aquastar.

thanks for this info Pond Skipper. actually what should have been done in this motor test ; same size motors eg; 3674 - 2200 kv. the latest 2016/17 model Turnigy xk motors are now different to the 2 xk,s in last pics. [ hope mine is a slotted type ]

That test I don't like, because purposely keep the rpm at 16500, so he may have been giving one motor 75% throttle, while another 60% throttle while the other 50% throttle to accomplish the same rpm. So the results from that test is meaningless in my opinion, if he had given the 3 motors full throttle and listed the rpm and other data logged numbers then I would have had something to work with. The xk turnigy motor in the test was a 1600kv while the leopard was a 2200kv so he would have given the turnigy more throttle than the others which is while the power consumption was higher on the xk.

would a 120 amp esc be suitable to use with the 3674 - 2200 kv motor running a 4s / 4500 pack ? in a hydro and h7 prop.

You likely will burn the 120 amp esc with that setup, the 180 would be more suitable for that setup. The 120 might work with a x442 octura or something in that range.

thanks Patrik, my only issue is maybe the 180 esc could be too large in measurements compared to the 120 amp which is abit smaller but i will take your advice and look for a suitable 180 amp. thanks alot for you help.

my new JAE 21 / FE is just about ready to hit the water , just waiting on an abc H7 prop and a new Futaba 2.4 gig receiver. the power combo will start at the Turnigy XK 3674 - 2200 kv motor / 180 Turnigy esc / 4s - 4500 - 35c lipo, c.o.g. balance is set at the approximate 60 - 40 % . will post pics soon if i work out how to do it.
