This is the Tower Hobbies Turbo Vee 1. Released in 1994, it is still currently undergoing upgrades. The old mechanical speed controller was removed & replaced with a modern lightweight ESC capable of handling an 8 turn 540 class electric motor. The stock 540 class motor that came with this unit was removed & replaced by a 550 class fan cooled electric motor. Further cooling is achieved by a mini cooliling fan available from Radio shack stores.
It currently uses a 7 cell 3300maH Ni Mh to push this boat up to plane. The Turbo Vee 1 uses a flexshaft attached to a 35 mm prop.

Here's my current restoration/upgrade project: Kyosho's very rare Casablanca "Tunnel Hull" hydo boat. This kit was Kyosho's early design released in 1989 & has long been out of production.
Twin gear drive outboard motors push this boat up to plane. Originally equipped with 380 sized electric motors, they have sinced been replaced by stock 540's.
This boat will receive watercooling to the motors & ESC (replacing the stock Mechanical speed Control).

RE: SHOW UR BOATS PEOPLE
Another added to the fleet. got this about 2 weeks ago.
Sorry, incase some of you don't know what this is or can't read the lettering on the side of the boatlol
then its a Kyosho Sunstorm 600. Soon to be a modified Sunstorm, converted to surface drive with a 540 brushless Feigao motor, Baraccuda 80 ESC and probably 12 sub C batteries.

RE: SHOW UR BOATS PEOPLE
Here is one of mine. Its a ABC super hawaii. I put in a 700bb turbo motor and a traxxas esc(not nearly enough!!). I run it on 12 cells but the motor is only revving to one third of what its supposed to because of the esc... I also have a hy-point hydroplane w/a k&b 7.5 ob. on it. Oh, and i bought a Nitro Hammer tonight too.

[link=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5205845293484226942&q=rc+boat]google video 42 mph electric cat and hydro[/link]
I'm not sure if I added the link correct, but here is a video clip of my H&M Drifter S Cat and a buddy's BBY Splash Hydro. (see google video, search "RC Boat" and look at page 5 of search results)
They are both about the same speed (Cat clocked with GPS @ 41.9 MPH).
The cat does have some cavitation problems and I'm working to find a prop to eliminate it.
The cat has a Feigao 8XL, running 12 cells and 1732 octura prop and octura in line rudder and strut. Gets great run time 5-6 minutes and nothing gets hot (think I'm pulling about 45 amps on this set-up)
The BBY Splash is running a Feigao 8L, 8 cells, octura x637 prop. and using BBY hardware.
Keep an eye out for a new video, looking to run the cat on 18 cells (should be over 50 mph)

Here is some pictures of one of my ABC Super Hawaii and you just wait until I paint my next Super Hawaii project it is already faster than this one and it is powered by a MHZ Blackhawk Z-Drive (I/O) mounted to a 700 SC Motor...I would show pictures but right now it runs better than it looks.

Heres pics of my soon to be twin brushless Villain IV. Have 2 feigao 540 7S motors on order and 2 castle barracuda 80's. I still have to add the combo spin/trims to it.

Rough Water My Eye!
That's pristine calm flat water, try a 6" chop and that thing is upside down.
Not putting the boat down, it's just that people need to know that it is not easy to find a calm pond big enough for a 40MPH boat. Very nice work but limited applications.
Fun I bet...
