MRP Miss Budweiser Electric Hydro
This boat has been a slow project of mine for the last 10 years, but I have never been able to get it to plane up on the water. I have completely re-built the boat (new motors, prop, and speed controller), but it still isn't running right. My current suspicion is that the problem is a bad motor/prop combination, but I am not an expert. I am currently running an Octura X432 prop driven by two Kyosho X Speed Monster 550 motors. Does anyone have any ideas why my boat still doesn't work? Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by "nqd". It's dual-motor to one shaft/prop at a 1-to-1 gear ratio from the manufacturer.

with 2 motors pushing it you could go for a bigger prop. but eventually you should try and move to one motor and direct drive. the gears are friction and rob speed.

RE: MRP Miss Budweiser Electric Hydro
Novacat is right, it is the old (late 1980's) MRP Miss Bud. I'm running close to the prop size recommended in the manual. MRP recommends a 1.25" diameter by 1.75" pitch (or smaller with a higher pitch). My Octura X432 is 1.26" diameter by 1.764" pitch. There's not much room for a larger prop without extending the drive shaft further out of the back. I'm wondering if I have the wrong type of motors. Maybe I'm turning the prop too fast. A previous thread on this boat recommended 19-turn motors. I don't know what mine are, and I can't find the information anywhere. Does anyone know how many turns the Kyosho X Speed Monster 550 motors are?

dude for yor application since the gearbox is 1:1 all is it adds is drag, and something to break.. then you have the weight of two motors, i would go to www.offshoreelectrics.com, i belive they is selling a victory ESC (99$ i think) and a 700bb with it for 29.95$ add a fullers FE 6-12 cell hardware kit, drivedog, and select a prop (lifting most likely if its a hydro) from what ive been told from asking a similar question recently. start at about a x437 - possibly might be able to work your way up to x442/3 others include the 1640, v937 should get some decent variants there. this will be your money best spent, instead of having to go buy two high maintenance motors to do the job one reasonably cheap big motor will do. the 19 turns may be great for a while but running two means two comms to skim, two sets of brushes/springs to replace. when the 700bb wears out , just buy another motor, treat them well tho and they are said to last a while..

RE: MRP Miss Budweiser Electric Hydro
yeah with the props I am only going off what i have been suggested to run on my own boats as i havent owned a boat that needs a high lift prop yet...until my newest boat - a climate boatworks matrix rigger.
Ive cut this prop down in the pic... it was an x450 that had been on an old nitro seaducer type hull, it had run over a couple of things and was cracked, i have bent it and cut it and filed it sharpened, balanced and polished it
Forgot to mention, i tried this prop yesterday and my rigger started to hop and actually get a bit of lift, although it was loading the engine, not letting it rev, so i removed a bit more leading edge meat, off to test it shortly, best prop i have tried so far.

What a coincidence. I ordered the Blizzard Outrigger last week. Hasn't arrived yet but I'm really looking forward to it. How do you like yours so far?

I agree with novacat except about the props.

When you've set-up the boat with a (relative cheap) Graupner carbon prop and it runs well, you can think about replacing it with a similar metal prop to improve the performance.

it goes ok, i still havent got the right prop, just went for a test but i got some interference.
Unfortunately no-one brings in(to New Zealand) the CF graupner props or i would have a box of them, the bronze and stainless prather abc and octura are available so i tend to use them as they are on the shelf.
Yeah i am running the SS1 14 cells, sometime 12. i need to get a decent lifting prop tho i need to order a 1640
