Father and son "dominate" Dutch Championchip
I know, I know, in the greater scheme of things, it has little significance, but we had a mediocre race day, Sunday the first of October, but the results from the previous races pulled us through and made us a very happy father and son, winning the Mono 1 and Mono 2 Class Dutch Championship.

I built a Sigma (by Hopf) for her and that boat is frightningly fast in calm conditions, at least as quick as our MHZ Flashes...
On flat water the Sigma corners like an ECO.
As I had demolished my Flash in a testrun, a fourthnight ago, and didn't have the time to rebuild it in time for the Dutch Championships, she kindly let me run her boat in these races.
I had to try to get in front of the pack right from the start, in order to stay ahead in the ever choppier conditions after a few laps, knowing that I had no change to make the most of the Sigma's topspeed, as soon as the water became too choppy. (first picture in the next posting)
Needless to say I was caught by my son at the third or so marker... (second picture).
The relative short and shallow Vee Sigma is no match for a Deep Vee Flash, racing around a triangular course, the flat bottom makes it bounce badly and forces me to throttle down on the last third of the 30 m straight, to have enough boat in the water to be able to corner properly. (Third picture, Sigma driven/flewn by Naomi in the European Championship Moormerland Germany 2006)
The Sigma will be converted into a seven cell, 600 motor, Mono 1 Class hull and Naomi will get a better handling Mono 2 Class hull for next year.

RE: Father and son "dominate" Dutch Championchip
Indeed, despite the fact that only a handfull of 'drivers' were present it was a very hectic day. During the day my chances of becoming Dutch champion mono1 decreased with each heat. Due to some sort of battery failure in the first heat I was forced to retire, (IB4200 surprise surprise...).
The second heat was better, but water had found it's way into my Lightning and caused my ESC to mallfunction (read: ceased to operate). At last, the third heat was my best, completing a neat 36 laps. Too little to late...
Also it became very clear to me that my Lightning was ready for a complete overhaul, otherwise my father will become Dutch champion every year from now on (which, at the least, is only fair seeing he's put way more time in his mono1 then I have done this last year.) But, I'm very pleased with this years outcome, the two mono prices neatly divided between the two of us. Now I will not bore you longer with al this, and go back to building my MHZ Hotshot, my mono1 for next year. Any advice on that, anyone?
