RE: SV27 Props
If you could possibly keep you rpms up high[running out front, or in better water],you could keep a speed advantage over the 220 in less than a straight coarse, guess it comes down to driver, and he would have to work hard to do it,but the 220 prop will be quiicker in general, and the top end on 14 cells is very fast..Haven't tested a 2 blade 440 yet,but it's coming.

Thanks for verifying.
Let me pick your brain now....!
1. Smaller prop dia means higher rpm.
2. On equal boats/setuups: An x440 would be quicker out of the hole than a x440/3 just because 2 blades spin quicker faster. Now, the 440/3 will eventually win over the x440/2 if the course were wide with long straits because the 440/3 is propelling a higher water volume.
3. On equal boats/setups: An x440/2 would most probably win over an x440/3 on an s-course using the same hydrodyn as above.

Curious what kind of performance you got out of your 48mm? I'm dead on 35.1mph with tabs - (12 cells, 3 seperate runs, on diff days) and could most likely squeeze some more by raising the tabs. Also, how did the 225 work?

RE: SV27 Props
I've got the 45mm and 48mm CF's on order. Meanwhile I picked up an X645 to try my hand at prop prep. Problem is no one in town has a balancer for me to purchase. I started cleaning it up last night and polished it, too. I know it's out of balance, though. I was think about cutting a 3/16 drill bit off to use the shank for a balnce shaft and setting it up on the top of a pair of razor blades mounted to a block. Might get me in the ballpark at least.

I tested a Prather 215 stainless, sharpened, balanced and polished. It was a pretty massive letdown; It cavitated about the same as the stock prop, and was *much* slower. If you ask me, it's too small.
That was on a pair of 6-cell brick pack Intellect 4200s.
I'm having a hard time finding a Prather 220; nobody has them in stock. I've had one on backorder from Offshore forever, it seems.
The 225 is too much prop; I have one, balanced, sharpened, polished it and ran it for a whopping 1-2 minutes. Loads the motor down *way* too much, and even with my boosted up cooling, the motor was warm to the touch even after a short run.

My LSH was trying to order a couple of 220's yesterday for his stock and found that they were "TOP". (temporarily out of production)

The closest to the Prather 220 is probably the Octura M and X445, I got both, one from offshore Elcterics and one from funrcboat, no problem. I prep'ed the M and bought the X from funrcboat polished, nowwwwwww if that &%$*(*&)_*_))(**** drive dog [sm=punching.gif] would have kept up I would have some numbers. I was all set to test the before and after scuffing the bottom [:-]

I would think the closest to the 220 would be the H2 (identical) and m1347 (but 3 bladed, so much more cav, maybe just too much prop being a 3 bladed), followed by the x642/48mm with about 1mm/rev more push than the 220.

Give it a shot.....make shift balancers should be just as accurate, provided the center rod/poll is balanced, like a drill bit.
I'm curious to how the 645 will handle in corners, might have to back off a bit......let me know.
Thanks for the idea about the drill bit. I have an m1343 aluminum for $39 coming in. Will use the drillbit idea if she gets nicked.

RE: SV27 Props
Oh yeah. I have a Titanium Dog coming with my CF props, too. My LHS had several 3/16 dogs on the wall yesterday. I almost bought one but figured the stock one is good and I have a backup on the way...... Now, if I just had a prop....

RE: SV27 Props
That, 48mm, or the 215.
Anyone getting close to the 38mph that Grim recorded on the 12cells? I think it was 36.1mph from Steve using the 642. Maybe we can't get there because of the extra turn fin we all went and put on, but it just doesn't seem possible with the 440/3 prop. I'm asking because no one has yet exclaimed the break through.
Unless there was a steady 5-10mph surface wind to the boats back, or the batts were at just the right time in their charge life.
Sorry 14cell and lipos.......looking for stock 12cell like Grims config.

RE: SV27 Props
I'm pretty happy with the Prather 220 myself. But it's a little hard on these 14c-4500's since I could only run 2 minutes before I got worried about the heat. I could run all day on 12c packs and not worry. I don't think the extra 1-2mph is worth the down time if something fries. Suppose I could remove a few cells and just run 12c-4500's.
Naw, I'll just get her trimed out to where the prop will unload a little more and increase the cooling.
Anyone have data on the X-640 prop, what about cavitation and turning ability? The stock prop walks too much and turning ability suffers too much.
