Taylor:
What would be a good prop to start with. We are going to build several Phantom 8s from BBY instead of the OvalMaster 21s with 540 7L on 6 cells or 2 s lipos. We are using the 120a esc suggested above. We plan to race in a small pond and there are 5 of us so far.
Thanks!
Ben

umm a X432 is a good prop see how it gets. if its gets hot and short run times then go for the X430. But if its cool and good run times . then you can either prop it up or keep it at the set up
If you decide to prop it up then go for a x435 or x632

We have run ABS Falcon hull's for the previous two year's without much success, (one heat win, 4th overall) they are
available from Astec @ http://www.astecmodels.co.uk/product...election=hulls

The mega 22/20/1e is maybe a better bet for eco and/or the feigao 380s11? or 380l9 off the top of my head...
With regard to esc's please remember that in a boat the peak current will be twice the normal run current. For a rough calc current =60*cell capacity/runtime so for 3000mah cell and 5 mins it is 60*3/5 = 12*3 = 36 amps - so the peak is going to be around 70 amps.
I now have the Feigao 100 amp controllers with watercooling at £55.00 each (not even on their website yet!!).
For Eco this year in SWAMBC I know that there are a couple of Graupner Eco Manta's, some Falcons, and a super phoenix.

RE: Cheap Brushless esc
Hello Fellow FE Boaters,
I'm upgrading my brushless setup and i was wondering if anyone knows any tricks for getting BEC out of a brushless ESC at 22.2v. I was considering disconnecting hte positive lead to the ESC (receiver line) and running a jumper form the deans plug (batteries) to the receiver plug with a voltage regulator that runs 6.0v from 22.2v (if i can even find such a thing). Has anybody ever tried this or know anything about it. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks. oh and the reason i need the BEC is because my radio box is about 2"x2"x3" and it already cramped with just a micro receiver and mini servo. I did consider using 123 size NIMH which are rated at 3.0v but that would really cramp the radio box and i might have a problem with servo travel clearance if the batteries were to inadvertently move during a run. The 123 batteries also don't have much capacity and would have to be charged freaquently. Once again any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

RE: Cheap Brushless esc
hi, all you have to do is plug this regulator into the receiver and then plug the esc into the end of it. >>> http://www.superfastrc.com/boat.html
nothing has to be cut, or disabled, the regulator does it all for you. i run this same unit in my boats.

oh so sry, wrong link. here is the right one >>>> http://www.superfastrc.com/parkbec-5...ing-bec--.html
also, you will need to connect the positive and negative wires to your connector that you have attached to the esc.
if you want a 6 volt version use this one >>> http://www.superfastrc.com/parkbec-6...ing-bec--.html
