RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
mhz is a ripoff...their stuff is way more than it should be
here...this hull is around the same size, but a lot less, it may be ABS, but its definately strong enough to handle whatever setup your planning on using in a 20" long hull
(go down till you see 6 cell "Oval Master"
ABS Plastic Deep V 21)

in fact, you can get the bby hull with hardware for less than the MHZ hull only

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
haha.
the speed star is a very nice hull. the lay up of fiberglass is second to none and you get a very good hull indeed.
140 dollars is not very expensive AT ALL.
look at some other hulls of the same quality and you will find that that hull is very good in price.
how i
140 dollars US for a electric mono with a fiberglass lay up that is one of the best you will find.
look here. there is only one boat that is cheaper. . and its by one dollar.

but yes sometimes their product is very expencive

and if you look, the speed star is only 20.9" long...the hull that is 139$ is 29" long...
im just saying he could get a much better deal on a hull (and hardware) for less than the speedstar hull only...

im not saying their product is a ripoff in quality, they do have high quality hulls, but their prices are kind of high...

the hull being 20 inches long doesn't matter to much. the lay up is far superior regardless. i would have NO problem paying 140 bucks for that hull.
mind you i would have no problem paying. .
LOL

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
hi,
i have been looking very closely at mhz hulls for a couple days now. i hope someone that owns one can comment on this or any of their hulls in the 20 to 26 inch range as i also want to get one but dont know what one is best.
im hoping to find one that can be fast, take slight chop if i want to play on a windy day. and be Self-righting. what about the Shockwave-M Version, or Hot Shot 2K, Sigma EVO Mono 2, speedstar or even the small Moskito Set (current N-2 world-record holder) or baracuda http://206.206.85.209/xtdoc/Details....H1&store=xtdoc
anyone have any of these? please we want to hear about them because we are about to spend our money, lol (and we just want the best choice)
thanks all,
john

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
gyrotech,
There is a guy on here that bought one, I don't remember his name, maybe he will come along soon. I do remember he was happy with it. I had the mhzusa Gecko and it was a very nice boat with good workmanship, but there was a small dent on the transom. I was disappointed with that, but it wasn't worth sending back for. you can see the dent just above the propeller in the seam where the transom meets the deck.

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
wheelnut - I never noticed that on your hull.
I own the Gecko and it is indeed very well layed up, although the gelcoat in a couple spots on the inside of the strakes was thin or gone. I beleive this was due to the hull being so small. The glass was thin but very strong so the weight is almost none. I was happy with it.

Yeh, I never mentioned or pointed it out. I thought the most interesting thing was how different our hulls were even though we had the same boat. Post a pic of yours to show the difference. They may find that interesting. The speedstar hull may have variances also.

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
OK, here it is. I changed it to a true surface drive by getting rid of the solid shaft for a .098 flex and repositioning the strut (aluminum tube in this case) to go straight out the back of the hull and using a brass stuffing tube.
The boat would only go so fast before leaping out of the water and there was no way to compensate for this because the tube out the back was at a downward angle. After I changed it over to go straight out the back it throws a roost just the big boats and will now go faster without hopping. ...it is the best thing to do to this boat or any other hull with similar problems due to not having the shaft straight out the back.
It is interesting that we ordered our hulls close to the same time but they are cosmetically different. Mine has the air scoop on top of the cowl and yours didn't. Mine also had the top rear of the boat different which made mine a little harder to tape as yours was smooth and didn't have the dip.

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
I owned a mhz gecko and the boat is of superior quality. I now have an mhz hotshot which is similar to the speedstar. The craftsmanship is outstanding. You can call the owner and he will be happy to help you with setting up your boat. They are not cheap. They will run well and have an extensive racing background. I like to buy quality hulls and use feigao motors. Just my 2 cents

Hi, only consider MHZ if you want the best. Amazing quality. If there is better let me know and I will buy it. I own 2 fleas, a Gecko and have $1200 invested in a Gozilla from Hopf, available from Xtremedoc. Its a 14 cell brushless rocket. Later, Allen

RE: Anybody have a MHZ speedstar?
MHZ is indeed top notch quality ! I can know since I'm in Europe and I have the MHZ Shockwave myself. Lot's of people use MHZ hulls over here. They aren't that expensive though. But quality needs to be payed right.
My other boats are Team-Lindenau Executive H1 rigger , Team-Lindenau Primus H2 semi-scale hydro and RCMK mini Mogli mono1.
All brushless power.

I love it The quality is like no other.

Very nice hull indeed. This one is 90US$ in my country. I don't know how much you payed for it. Not cheap but good.
I have a very nice strut for this one in stock right now. I'll include a picture. I have a RC boat webshop here in Belgium.
This hull is capable of doing high speeds without flipping end over end. Good choise.
Keep it up ;-)
