Do you have a video of the boat running with the mods? I'd love to see it. My first boat was a radioshack boat I converted.

I enjoyed every minute of it's mod, and it's run.

Ok, sorry for taking so long. I have had a lot of stuff going on. I have attached a few pictures to show what I'm working with. It looks as if everything is screwed in so almost everything could be removed eventually as i try to upgrade and have fun with it.

There is plenty of room. It looks to be easier than my Radioshack boat was.
If you decide to go brushless, try to get the prop angle as close to horizontal as possible. Brushless, at that angle, will lift the boat out of the water, then it'll fall to one side.

what do you think would be a chepa motor i could start off with in there for now. I need to pull up some cash before i start tearing apart the whole boat so what could be some could quick upgrades to use. Also i have a bunch of RC cars lying around to i could use. There not high class except for one but im not tearing that apart since its a nitro. Any help would be great.

a standard 540 would work, like a normal rc car motor. You'll probably need to make a motor mount, but you can be creative on this one. Heck if you used whatever part mounted the motor in the rc car, you could fiberglass that in the bottom of thehull. Scrap metal works as well, or some hardware store and hobby stores sell metal plate that you could use.

This makes me want to start my zigzag all over again! I tore all the stock stuff out of it and attempted to go with a mini rage brushless ESC and AON 3400kv motor. LiPo I used was too small and it cooked, I need to try this thing again.

I had one of these about a year ago.[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=360844[/link]
I took all the electrics out and bought a proboats 40amp esc, a futaba 2 stick radio and a dtx 3800 stick pack. The thing was fast but i hit a rock and it cleaned the prop, shaft and rudder off it was faster then an EP hammer.

Thanks, I will, but I don't intend to keep this one.
I have a 39" Tugboat (just sold) Powered by a 700BB Turbo
I have a Blackjack BL, modded
I have a [link=http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/showthread.php?t=2457]New Vegas Gen 2 hull[/link] and an 8XL to power her
I have A BBY Scat cat 21 with custom HW
I have a Renegade rigger, The actual boat in the "rough water mod" video
I have a Brushless Mini Cat
I have a Kyosho surfer BL with a CC Barracuda 125
I have a Police Boat
I have a Hydrofoil
I have a 65" Coast guard cutter
I have a 1/8 Miss bud hull on the way.

I gave away a Blackjack hull
I gave away a Mini Hydro (RTR w/ lipo)
I gave away a SV27 hull
I gave away a Vision Peak Ultra Charger
I gave away a Futaba 4 channel system
I sold a Shockwave I converted to a jet drive

I may not spend as much as most, but I do spend my fair share. I bought that wall-mart boat because of the comments in this very thread. It's entire existence is solely to prove a point. It'll probably be a freebie on OSE after I video it's 1st run.

Oh, and I do own a 5MP 10X still camera and a 32x panasonic HDD camcorder.

Good job on giving away the Vision Peak Ultra Charger, those chargers are POS. I had mine 2 weeks before it started to not charge any battery I stuck on it above 300mah

It probably blew the transformer. That's exactly what mine did. It still works 100% on DC input, because the DC side doesn't use the transformer.
