Default LiPo Break-in Procedure

Dear FE's
According to the LiPo supplier they would like me to limit the first few runs to around 3-5C.
Since I’m running a 5000 mAh battery it’s not like I can connect a light bulb.
Any suggestions on a discharge method appreciated.
Otherwise I’ll reduce my prop size and hope for the best.

Regards,
Moppie

I only use Flight Power cells which are also Enerland.

I have never broke in a LiPo pack in the last three years!

Here's my $24.00 Venom charger purchased from Tower...I own two of these chargers. Although charger is slow, it is good enough for my needs. It takes up to 8 hours to charge one Venom 3s 5400 mah battery pack using this charger. Notice the Traxxas TRX connectors...these batteries fit my new brushless 3905 Emaxx truck, but I will soon have a boat built around these batteries. Super V on 6s lipo maybe?

most digital chargers have a discharge feature if u have one. Otherwise just set your throttle to like 20% and drive around. For what its worth. I use lipo's in a few things and have never broken in a pack either. Charge and use.

A charger that takes 8 hours to charge a battery is very painful. All my LiPo packs are charged within 30-60minutes. My charger cost just over 110 CAN bucks.

Do you charge at 2C? Most lipos charge at 1C and take around 1 hour if I remember correctly. 2C is now being approved for almost all lipos! Numb numb terms, wait for the manufacture to OK 2C!

Upwards of 2.5C if I have to. I usually don't drain my LiPo's, and can get away with 1-1.5C charging.

venom would not be something i would trust.
8 hour charging is brutal. as a matter a fact also semi dangerous. slow/trickle charging a lipo can cause damage to the cell. I heard a couple of stories with people cycling there packs on a trick charge and end up either puffing or catching fire.
well, that is what i was told.

2C and 1C charging. 1C is common and no matter what cell you have ( mah) it will take the same time, unless you have a cheapo chinese cell ( HImodel, HXT, ZIPPY, Venom... etc) then it might take longer.
2C charging is becoming more common But there is not near the ammount of cells that can charge at 2C around unlike jeeprubicon2k3 said.
be cautious of the cells when charing at 2C, you could void your warrenty if it not advertized on the cell.

I may purchase the Hyperion DUO soon.

I have charged these batteries about 5 times each now and no problems yet. The Venoms .75 amp charging rate is considered a slow charge and not a trickle charge I here...correct?

I would consider a trickle charge to be 0.54A for your packs. And you're charging only .2A higher.
