Ryan, The 4800kv with the water jacket is your ticket. Already has cooling, and 4800kv should scoot with either a 2s Lipo (best) or a 6c and up NIMH (heavy). I once tried a similar high rpm 2040 with ribs for cooling that didn't produce enough torque, but that could have been due to a number of things. I'm supposing that the esc you chose will handle it as well. Git 'er done!! [sm=cool.gif]

RE: Unofficial
Yeah, I read that post and re-read the original jet drive post, not the ndq thread. I am not sure where that post was going? A lot of guys are running 3400 KV and I think that is the ticket. You can try the 4800KV but I am certain you will change your mind about things after a few runs.

That's a pretty hot motor you're going with 4800KV[:@], Are you going to run it on lipos? You're going to have to stick with 2S and you better water cool that esc. Even then your runs are going to be limited to 3 mins depending on how hot things get in there! Best option would be to run a 3500 to 3200 KV motor, 3s lipos, for cooler runs and longer minutes.

Ryan,
no sweats bud! here's what I ordered off Hobby King.
http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store...idProduct=4194
I ordered the Turnigy 30A watercooled ESC as well from Hobby King. Hope this helps you out in your decision making. If you're still not sure, go back and read some of the post like I mentioned earlier. 3200 - 3500KV is your best/safest bet for a motor and you can run them on 3S lipos. I know you mentioned Nimh, it might be heavy for this hull. Cheers!
http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store...hless_Boat_ESC
I also ordered another motor off a vendor on ebay, walkera motor 3200KV 2030.

RE: Unofficial
I worked with Demon on our boats. We have similar setups but I've made some changes since. The original plan was to run 3200kv inrunners on 3s 3000mah. Through testing I found out the hard way that the motors get very hot running them in that configuration, and had a casualty. So I picked up a 3700kv and did some testing on 3s/2s with a longer cooling coil. I found That even tho 3s was running somewhat safe temperature, I was more comfortable with the 2s in terms of temperature and wear on the jet. Running 2s is slower, but in all honesty if you wanted a super fast pond boat you'd be better of going prop'd. For me, I'm happy with it in the river/s I have run it in, in terms of handling, balance, and power. I will try to get a video up next time I make it to a local stream or river. I am growing pretty familiar with this platform now and can attempt to answer questions.
Tear into Jet "Green Goblin"
Specs-
3700kv inrunner
Turnigy Marine ESC
2s 1250mah-3s 3000 lipos
Traxxas 2080 waterproof servo
The clear rubber plugs are holes for easy access to motor... I hate 90* drivers!
Yes, I realize there is an apparent seaweed colonization in the grate.

Good looking knockoff etokyo. Yeah, we're having a time with seaweed here as well. I agree with your feeling that speed isn't everything, But it's reason for tweakage and even more fun. Another goodie about these boats is that you can run them into each other (even jump one another) with impunity. Mo' fun. Keep it up! Sdg.

RE: Unofficial
I'm running a 3000kv outrunner (it's a heli motor). I soldered some tubing to an 1/8" aluminum plate and mounted that between the jet pump and the motor. I run it on 3s, 2200mah packs and it doesn't get very warm at all. I'm running an air cooled 25A esc with no problems either. I'm pulling about 18k rpms @25A on full throttle runs. Not sure how that stacks up, it's pretty quick, but definitely no speed demon. Like someone else said, if you want a lot of speed, buy something with a prop. My biggest speed problem is sucking crap up and blocking the flow through the pump.
As for waterproofing the boat, I just put silicone bathroom caulk along the flange of the jet and around where it exits and I haven't seen a single drop of water inside the boat since.

RE: Unofficial
Well I made a video but didn't have a sister to hold the camera, so I put it on the boat
It was super choppy so I was never able to get it up to any sort of speed, guess just the nature of the beast.
