Yes, that is a clean looking boat. I will soon be going to a watercooled mount for my Tear Into with ourunner motor. The plastic gets real hot. I really like the turning heads![sm=wink_smile.gif] Good thinking - will make for a great video op. Good job![sm=thumbup.gif] Sdg

Aren't you using a grill on your intake / trim tab to keep things clear ? Nice boat, very nice.

aumsdh,
I was going to ask why part of the intake was sticking out past the rear of the boat, but I see now you said it is a trim tab. Because of the angle of the intake and tab, it doesn't look like it will bend. In your research and development to follow, could you show a couple of videos with variable trim tab settings to see how differently the boat rides?

the ride plate just helps with stability a bit to keep form rocking side to side (whatever thats called)

i run one to protect the jet drive from rocks and such

oh, ok. I think an adjustable trim tab would be good to have. Just like on prop boats.

Yep thats the side to side movement at speed . the ride plate does help with that and its good for protecting the nozzle from slideing around rocks.

you really dont need an adjustable tap . but an adjustable nozzle would do wonders

That's true, but the nozzle isn't adjustable is it?

I used one on my BBY OMC21 in an effort to prevent porpoising. When adjusted down too much it would sway from side to side, and when adjusted up too much, it would hop again. There was a sweet spot in between where you try to spend the most time. I recently retired the hull and am using the components for other projects. I may revive the boat as a prop drive recovery boat with the vector steering hardware from the Viper conversion.

Why use vector steering when you can stick a simple rudder and servo in it?

Vector steering is a good choice for rescue boats - they (usually) have reverse, can maneuver well in tight places, and have plenty of torque for pushing pricey bobbers back to shore.

And did I mention that I already have the parts from a Viper that I converted to jet? [sm=rolleyes.gif] Begood, Sdg.
