To get a cool jet boat rooster tail, instead of having the outlet for your water cooler pointing straight out the back, you could angle it up. This is something I'll be looking to do. Mine should turn up today with any luck.

Dragonfire, that is awesome. I have seen those types of fittings in so many applications and never thought of it for a jet drive. Cool

Dragon, looks really cool what you've come up with. PM Marsh32 about the stator. I've been trying to duplicate his mod on his NQD but havn't had the time yet. I'll send you what he sent me.

My boat finally arrived today.  Will have a stock speed video posted tomorrow, hopefully, for  Magnat.

Having seen first hand what we start with, my respect for the mods some of you guys have pulled off has risen by about 1000%...

Starting to suffer from too much choice and information, so I'm just going to ask the question - is this an appropriate combo? http://cgi.ebay.com/Marine-3600Kv-Br...item5639874807

Shaft size aside obviously, it doesn't seem too difficult to turn the motor shaft down to size.

It's more motor than you need. The mount holes may not line up and then you'd need an adapter. Turning down a shaft by running the motor is bad medicine as well so you'd have to disassemble the motor for best results. You can only pump so much water through a 21mm hole- try to stay with a 20 or 24mm (tops) diameter motor for best results. If you stick with 2.3mm shaft sizes you won't need to turn down the shaft or buy a new coupler. Not trying to let the wind out of your sails, just trying to save you some grief! [sm=red_smile.gif]

ss132 my cheapo 3600kv motor has finally arrived, and fitted tonight. I will be running it tomorrow, hang on, I'll report how it went. Most guys have had best results with a 3200kv, this motor was cheap off flebay so worth the test at $14 (£7) and esc for £10 (£20?)

Couple of question!

I have to now mod my sons boats, I can change the motors without removing jetdrive which will save a load of time and mess, but anyone know is the stock glue/seaant up to the job or will it leak?.
I have made a new mesh intake and done the plate mod, what does that actually do? ( the plate that stick out onder the stator)
Hopefully fine weather and a successful run tomorrow!
Thanks

hopefully it wont be pics of that magic blue smoke that is a prisoner inside rc electronics, bit like the smoke featured in Lost, its very angry when it escapes and always costs money, I have a feeling my very cheap motor might expire very quickly!

A ride plate is a trim tab that can help stop an overpowered boat from porpoising or continuously jumping at speed, and helps protect the nozzle in shallow water. You can integrate the mesh intake onto it and it can also serve as an intake scoop to help prevent aeration and to reprime faster after aeration. But a well designed/balanced hull doesn't need one.

Next person who gets a Tear into can they shoot a stock vid running in a straight line to check the speed...
I have seen the Vids on youtube but everyone seems to turn too quickly to test straight line speed..
Here's a vid of a stock boat. I had some 'issues' trying to edit it, so have just simply uploaded the raw footage, which unfortunately does include periods where there is lots of water and not much boat...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvQQ2Dbq8tw

That actually looks like it doesn't go too bad. I ran mine in the sink just to see if it worked when I pulled it out of the box. But that's it, it's now on the bench, gutted, awaiting transplant surgery, once I locate and obtain appropriate organs to make it live again.

ooooOOO HAAA HAAAA Haaa haa! Doctor Frankenstein, I presume.... AH Ha hahaha!
Gotta wonder how many kilos of perfectly good Tear Into innards lurk in the shops and closets of NQD enthusiasts. If someone wanted to push the stock motors to the edge, they'd find a plethora of nearly new motors free just for the asking! WOOooo HA ha haaa!..... [:-]

Lol Dr. Sundog. I think I'll put bolts coming out the side of my twin jet boat since at least the drives came out of knock offs. Though really I took one of the motors (the one I didn't run at all and therefore didn't smoke at all) and put it in a Mini-v. After it got broke in it actually runs quite well that and I resoldered everything. I'm not a great solderer, but sometimes you feel like your grandmother could do better than what comes on the back of those motors.

Similiar.. Thanks...

Thats not too bad for a stock boat.. Although you can see that the stock boat is not proportional as the motor is either on or off...
but it looks alot faster then I would have thought...
