I wonder if this motor would be too small??? If not, it would be pretty sweet in the tear into!

300w?Iuse an outrunner with 350w, plenty of horses. It could be pretty nifty with 2S.

Yeah man, I'm like a bird (to the shine) and that motor looks sweet. Like the guys say, 2 cell for sure and I really like that its water cooled already so you just mount it up!

Wow, look at [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14622]this version[/link]. It's big brother! Plenty of power for the Tear Into, and just the right KV range. A shoe-in for sure. Just need a 3mm to 2.3mm connector and you're good to go. Toocool.

Nice! I didn't see that one. Lots of power behind that motor.

MY BOAT CAME IN TODAY!!!

So i think I'm going to go with this motor(blue hobby king inrunner with watercooling). A question for anyone that has it. What kind of run times are you getting with it on what size batteries in this boat? Thanks

I found [link=http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-c-sl-12t-2040-blue.html]this motor[/link] that looks like the very same motor. And one [link=http://www.himodel.com/electric/SEAKING_4800KV_Brushless_Motor_W_Water-cooling_for_Boat_2040SL.html]more.[/link]

And on [link=http://www.tradevv.com/chinasuppliers/toyabi/offers-detail-158e90/Supply-Brushless-Water-Cooling-Motor-2040-4800KV-for-RC-boat-MB2040001.html]this link[/link] it shows it is a 12 turn motor that is rated at 222 max watts. Good to know.

I ordered one of those last week to try out, it should be perfect on 2S!

does anyone run

motor:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11179

esc:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10015

batteries:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16693

batteries dont have to be exact

just wondering how the motor works (i know esc will handle that motor fine) and how long of run times you get. we are considering doing the swap (three of us) but dont want to order 1 set for a test boat because shipping is so expensive

Demon, I have that motor in mine with a 2200ma Turnigy 30-40C and got over 10 minutes run and quit early because the boat was porpoising badly at full speed. Plenty of torque, stayed cool with no supplemental cooling (river was cold). I've since installed a ride plate but haven't had a chance to test it since. Can't go wrong with this motor - especially the price. But if I were to try another, it would be [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14622]this.[/link] Should give similar results and longer runtime. Only baddie is it costs almost three times as much, and is untested/unreviewed it is so new.

For those interested. I set my NQD jet boat up with this motor:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8595

I used a Traxxas VXL-3 ESC and 2200mah 3s 40c lipo's.

The motor pulled 39 amps and 420 watts of power.

I got 10 mins run time until the ESC thermal cut as I didnt fit a fan to it. I got around 3 goes with this set up and today the motor seized up. Dead as.... Would get that hot running on 3s that you would burn your fingers on the cooling ring. I now have these two motors on order as replacments. They will fit into the water cooling jacket and are a lower Kv so maybe they might last a little longer. I ordered one of each just incase.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=4195

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=4194

If these dont work then im getting a KMB 28mm jet unit and fitting the 5700Kv mamba motor I have collecting dust around here.

I also picked up this ESC:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=7360

Should last me a little while.
I will be dropping back to 2s 40c lipo's to try and make the motors last a little longer.

Cheers,

Rob.

That motor is way too high kv to run on 3s on with that jet.

If you want to use a motor in the 4000 kv range, it should probably be on 2s.

Yeah, energy is right - you need to use a 2S lipo with that motor. If you want to use a 3S battery, go with a 3000kv motor. Any higher kv the speed will be wasted - it will sound faster, but won't be going faster. Those two that you bought will be underpowered, as they are 30mm (short) cans and won't cut the mustard for long. On a 20mm motor, you'll need a 40mm length can - or better to go to a 24 or 28 mm motor. [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14622]This motor[/link] looks like a good choice for 3S, but you'll need a different connector (3mm to 2.3mm).

Maybe in some applications. It has to do with what the motor is turning.

I got a couple of 2s 40c 2200mah lipo's in the order as well. Im not going to worry to much as it was just a little trial and error with this boat. I will be running the new motors on 2s. i will see how they handle with the new esc as well.

That really is a mean looking motor, but I've been wondering for a while now. Does anyone know what the bongle in the inset is?

Are you talking about the litte red aluminum thing? If so, i was wondering too, figured it may be a filter.

That would be my guess. The water might come in contact with a bearing or two - probably the shaft as well. You don't want foreign particles in there! I found this on a different watercooled outrunner:

Compared with traditional outside cooling way of outrunner water-cooling motor, the breakthrough of AEO water-cooling motor: Cool the stator inside motor directly:
Traditionally, there is a special cooling area in the front of motor.
AEO cooling way called "Center pillar cooling". The cool water circles in the center pillar to get away the heat.

Hi,
I just ripped everything out of the boat. I took out everythingexceptthe jet system. I'm starting new with everything from servo mount to receiver box toantennamount.
Anyway, while i wait for parts, i was cleaning up theinsideand out side. Got rip of a bunch of gunk inside with WD40 and am working hard at the outside.
My question is, what have you guys used to remove the printed on decals? I read in here about WD40, and tried that, but it didn't work. I applied it, wait a couple minute thenscrubbedit with no real end result. Was going to try nailpolishremover, but before that, i just wanted to check here to see what you guys were using.
Maybe i wasn't leaving the WD40 on for long enough (1-3 minutes).
Thanks you
