the best thing to do it first drill out the hole in the housing from 2mm to 3mm then replace the rubber seal with a 3x10 mm rubber sealed bearing . the only hard part is opening up the pilot bushing in the stater housing from 2mm to 3mm . after u do all that and replace the shaft coupling for the new shaft . your ready to go

Very nice vid. I loved the; slow mo shots, the twist roll jumps and the water spout created by the awesome power.
Your boat doesn't even stay upside down when it rolls. It was almost like you have a balast in it.

What's up guys, I'm still lurking and watching this thread. Looks like lots of fun.

Well, getting closer... my RX arrived this past wednesday, and the boat cleared Canadian customs last night. My HK order is waiting on a new shipment of batteries before it will ship, and then the real fun begins!

Batteries are in stock, HK order should be shipped monday! Hopefully I have everything before next weekend!

As a matter of interest has anybody tried to put a nitro engine in one of these little boats? what size do you think it would need?

i thought about it but you would need around a .18 but even a small block it to big for the small engine bay . i even thought about runing two .05 motors but the cost would be two high .

Yeah well its been a while since I've had anything to do with nitro or electric (been doin a bit of slope soaring) so why not have a crack! do you think that engine would suit?

Yes I do, mostly because the boat looks small and light. and the fact that it is a jet drive helps.
If it were a 26" or higher, I would say a .18 would be in line.

Nah, I 'm a Brit Not a Kiwi.

I saw some jetboat racing when in New zealand Hence the graphics. Plus some of the Mauri inspired art is pretty sweet.

They are home made/drawn on Inkscape and then printed on laser waterslide paper. Works a whole lot better than i thought. Only glitch was the engine as i used white backed paper to show up on the darker paints. Worked fine until i lacquered the whole thing (to protect the graphics when the boat gets wet!) anf the background colour (printed)changed shade under the lacquer (despite carefully matching it on the PC) Not the end of the world.

Mine was delivered yesterday, ran it bone stock last night.  I was surprised at two things... One, how terrible the run time is and two, it was quicker than I thought it would be stock.

It's already in pieces, I'll hopefully be painting the hull (basecoat atleast), bushing the driveshaft, adding the water cooling, putting in a new screen over the intake, mounting the servo and sealing the pump back in place tonight/tomorrow night.

I'm still waiting on my order from HobbyKing (shipped this morning) before I can put in the new ESC and motor, but I plan to run it on the stock motor/battery until the brushless ones show up.  I'm going to use an old car ESC that I already had, and I'm going to use allen head screws to hold the motor in so I don't have to pull the pump every time I want to remove the motor.

nice job rich, love the motor air intake

I have been having loads of problems with loss of prime on my 3rd and last boat. The other 2 are sold, exactly the same set up, but no loss of prime on either of them, its a bit of a mystery, so I have removed the gauze and stator protector, going to redesign a way of stopping debris getting into the drive. I also have a lathe turned and balanced brass impeller to try as the stock plastic lost a blade, why are spares impossible to get for these boats? NQD are missing a trick here, as none of their range seem to have any spares available, rubbish really[sm=angry_smile.gif]

if you have a grate over the intake you will lose prime, it is unavoidable

It may also depend somewhat on the shape of the grate as well. Mine will lose prime occasionally when jumping in rapids or waves, but when running the motor at full tilt it will pick it right back up and keep going. I did have a problem with mine earlier this continully losing prime & I finally checked the shaft bushing going to the motor. It was loose and the hole was egged. So after rebushing it and doing the bearing mod (I have a mini jet in my knock off) the priming issue dissapeared. Just a thought but maybe check your shaft holes.

Has anyone replaced the "rubbery" bush in the NQD drive with a bearing?

Iam having a hard time finding a roller bearing with 2.3mm I.D.
