got mine (for the most part) built up. No bearing in the driveshaft yet or sleeve but i'll get to that soon. motor cooling coil was a pre-fab, working on a better one once i find something the right size to wrap around.

may have to play with the battery to get it balanced right, it's decent at the moment but havent had a chance to drive it for very long, been getting a nice seal between the jet drive and the hull.

have a traxxas slash waterproof receiver box, traxxas slash 1/18th waterproof server, walkera 3200 motor, turnigy 35a waterproof esc, turnigy 3000mah lipo (got these for longer run times, 80g more than the 2200mah ones so we figured it was a better investment, hopefully it was and the weight wont be a problem with acceleration and such)

Lookin’ good! Try putting the battery horizontally in front of the motor if it will fit. You can cut off the water discharge tube leaving about 5mm sticking out so that you can see the stream to assure the cooling isn't plugged. If I were to change anything, I would have drilled the water line holes directly behind the motor mount screws for easy access to the screws with a long screwdriver. All in all, good looking work. Please post some videos!

yea, the water tube i've yet to cut off because im just making sure i dont cut it and then change how it is in the boat or anything.

battery i may end up changing, i wanted to keep as much weight back as possible so we'll see how it works. havent driven it yet aside from in the bathtub to make sure it works lol

So after what I thought was waterproofing it (the seals for the jet drive) it still leaks a bit. and so does the kitchen sink with a boat in it (lol oh well). Did you guys seal the back of the jet drive (without the cowl on) also? I'm thinking that's where it's leaking from still but I'm not sure. I don't have any tools here, I built this at a friends house so before I go and buy allen wrenches (I'm cheap) I wanted to know if you guys sealed the back of the jet drive as well.

Also, is there anything i can do to "waterproof" the lipo's? I'm not too worried about it, as theoretically no water should be getting in once I seal the jet drive and whatever else is leaking, but in case something tragic happens is there a cheap way to do that? maybe heat-shrink it? I just don't want to be too worried about them (not really am, but just taking the extra precautions)

Demon if they are new packs you have very little chance of anything occurring, i've got... geez dozens o lipo's no fires and all of them dunked or wet. I've found no matter what, you always seem to get water in. But as for securing the jet drive, goop, drop some in and use a toothpick or something long and skinny to move around the jet, for the bottom portion at the back of the boat, make sure your in a room with good heat and put a good dollop in there and just have gravity move it around(which means twisting etc). Let dry for 24 and at least the jet drive will stop leaking except for maybe where the drive shaft is(fixes for this too).

Also be sure to pull the engine pieces out and goop them back in. the main leakin area will then be your top.

cool, wont worry about the lipo's at all then. not planning on sinking the boat, but if i do manage to that's the only thing that would fail haha.

I have resorted to supergluing the jet in to stop leaks. I take the jet out, clean all surfaces and c.a. glue it in. After that cures (next day), I run a bead around all the seams again (inside and out), and repeat that twice. No leaks at the jet anymore. Seems the hull flexes and eventually leaks with the factory sealant (silicone or hot glue) but superglue works well. Now the only place it can leak is at the driveshaft seal - but is not a problem - yet!

Yeah, mine came fully sealed. Speaking of that. Anyone have any tips about waterproofing around the jet unit? I tried a bead of glue around the outside on the bottom, but mine leaks like a sieve... Maybe silicone caulk?

i'm still having trouble with that.

the bottom is sealed nicely, so is the back. the only thing i can think of that would be leaking is through the screw holes in the rear? dont ask how but it's the only entrance into the hull that is open still

Have you done a bathtub test? fill the tub with water and place the boat in the tub and watch for leaks, I add a bit of weight to mine to simulate full running weight plus a little

i've done the "bathtub" test (kitchen sink lol) and i know there's a nice seal around the whole bottom and back. the water seems to pool on the transom, right under the jet drive in the middle, mostly on the right side looking from the back of the boat. i just went and sat it in the kitchen sink with the battery in it and pushing down on it and wiggling it around every once in a while for ~10 minutes and not a drop of water is in the boat. the only thing i can think of is the screws and the pressure of water in the jet drive while running just forces a little bit through

Has anyone tried 5-minute epoxy for gluing the jet unit in? I'm thinking of trying it, but it seems like if it doesn't work I'll be stuck with a big mess...

i like CA glue best. easy to work with and adds strength to the hull. my friends and i used to 5-15 sec drying time one for our boats
