Make a replacement metal impeller and you will be covered up with orders!
+1^ too

I have seen lots of homemade ride plates here. Would anyone take a run at making some and then selling them? I would buy one at a pretty penny. I think a ride plate with a built in grate would be really cool and not that much more work.

For sure impellers! I had to order a bunch of the Graupners from CMB because I shattered a stock one. [] Make a decent replacement that didn't cost $50 and you'd have a winner!

Well here is my Jetboat so far. I ran out of paint, hence why the bottom is still white. ATM it has a 4300kv in it on 2s, but as soon as HK get the 4800kv back in I will be replacing it.

I am also waiting for the upgrade kit that is meant to be comming out sometime soon. So I should have a nice ride plate if I can get my hands on one.

What you guys think?

Cheers,
Rob.

Hey guys, I did some testing of a grate I had put on my boat, I think I will replace it though with brass rods instead. I was lost to much speed/power for what it was worth.

I knew it would be - you were using expanded metal with openings that were too small. Go to the office supply section of Wal-Mart and look for the screen and mesh type file organizers. You want something with openings larger than the metal itself (larger than you used previously). One organizer will make over 20 rock guards (give them to your friends). Or find some screening with larger openings like I have on mine (see below).

Excellent, thanks for the tip. I think I will just use what I have for now (brass strands) but one of those metal organizers will be on my next build for sure!

I've still got a leak somewhere around the pump in my Kal-Gard boat, static I can leave it in the sink forever and it doesn't leak a drop, but as soon as I give it throttle it starts leaking. I haven't pinpointed where it's coming from, but it seems like right at the back of the pump in the transom. Must not be sealed to the hull completely.. Either way I'm running it, it's not a huge leak, but probably enough to drain it once or twice a pack.

I bet it's coming in around the shaft. Next time it's apart, superglue the 'O' ring in place (after cleaning its seat), and push sticky (thick) grease into the bore and smear some on the shaft before re-insertion. That will clear most of it up. And leave a piece of sponge (the hard dry kind) in the bottom at the transom to catch the small stuff. Consider buying a dollar water pistol and using it's stopper for a drain plug. Put it on top of the hull at a corner. Be careful to make a clean, circular hole so it will seal well.

That is good advice, I'll look into doing that. I do know that some gets in through the shaft, I'll re-grease it tonight and glue the bushing in place.

Hopefully it's not forcing it's way in through the transom, I was just thinking about that. Possibly the force of wash is getting in right where the stator bolts to the pump..Time to get crazy with the Marine Goop!
