Sundogz, you seem to be the goto guy in this thread. I have read the entire thread and have a question. If I am running 2200 mah 40-70C 2S with a 35a Turnigy water cooled ESC. With the given formula A=Ah x C
at 40 C I would be at 88a, and at 70C I would be at 156a. Depening on who you believe Turnigy max burst amps 150ish or Seaking max burst amps 70, am I heading for a melt down or is the water cooling making it workable.
The question is what motor are you running? You are right in your calculation (actually 154a), and as Similar said, that is what the battery can supply, not what the motor will ask for. You would get that demand from a dead short, but most 2040 motors (for example) won't ask for more than 60A even when bogged down. You have no worries.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to go small block or big block, so I did both. 2848 SL 3900KV Hobby Wing / Seaking (Big block) and 2040 SL 4800KV Hobbyking / Turnigy ( Small block). Even though I plan to run Nano tec 2200 2S, What do you think the motor / ESClongevity would be on 3S?

28mm motor, no problem. That 2040 won't last long on 3S, but will do fine on 2S with a water jacket. The 28mm has enough torque to overcome the back-pressure at higher speeds and will be much faster.

The one thing that makes figuring out the power system is, unlike an airplane you dont have a Pitch andDia. to work into the calcs. I guess you do, but I dont know what it would be.

I got my little boat running... wow....... the 2040SL 4800kv moves... I think I have to turn down my end points to get a little bit more control over the RPM range.

I will put a video up later and picture.

hi guys firstly i apologise for not reading the whole thread and working it out that way, so i hope you will take the time to help me.

im gonna build 2 of these for my 7 year old son and i. i would like to know your opinions on what is a good reliable setup. i would like to run 2s and just be able to chuck a batt in and hit the creek without having to spend alot of time fixing/repairing/rebuilding etc. as my rc surfer requires enough of that. ive got a heap of 2200 2s batts id like to use with it if possible.

so what do you think i should go with. ill probly get all the stuff from HK too. motor esc servo etc. im all set for tx rx

thanks in advance

mark

Hi,

does anyone have a spare stator nozzle steering piece laying around? I've broken two now, I ended up snapping the top part of it off that holds the servo rod while taking them off.. I've tried gluing it back together but it's just not happening and I don't want it to fall apart whilst on the river. Anyways if someone could help me out that would be great. I'd pay for the part and shipping.

thanks,

-Nathan

Those look great but like Dragonfire said it's for a different jet drive unit. I'd have to replace the whole thing and looks like the shaft is a different diameter as well so maybe not.

DragonFire, I'd really appreciate if you could bang me out a couple of those pieces. I'm considering going shopping for a permanent marker cap that I could manipulate to work for a temporary fix. What would you normally make the parts out of?

thanks,

-Nathan

Nathan, if you get a stock replacement steering nozzle, the way to remove/install it is to pinch the sides together (it flexes) and it will get larger from top to bottom and will slip off easily.

Yeah, Hobbyking just started doing that a couple months ago. You used to be able to 'hover' on a price and it would offer a better price after a few minutes, then you could put it in your cart for ordering later. But now you have to buy it that day or it will erase it. One way around that is to go back and find the cart in your history (mozilla firefox) and it will still be there with the good price.

That would be great. Yes all Ineed is a steering nozzle or two, I'd be interested in getting a couple of the smaller nozzles if you're willing to make a couple more. please let me know,

Thanks!

Fun fun, I'm building a pick-up boat for my Tear Intos. Also waterjet of course, winch, crane, lights, radar and a peculiar ballast-system at the rear.

I like the ballast! Pick up boat for the Tear Into? That sounds backwards! My Tear Into is possibly my most reliable boat and rarely has need for such, but it has been used to retrieve other boats before. Nice looking rig there.

thats exactly what happened sundogz, now all my once in a lifetime, never to be repeated, super dooper prices have disappeared! and i cant remember what i had finally decided on getting either! seems doing a system clean up and deleting temp internet files was the problem so tech help told me. thought it might have been saved on their servers not my pc?
