Bought my son an Apache. Its fun!
We both had a blast running it. Running it on DTX 4200 packs that peak at 8.35v. Its no speed deamon but I was skeptical since people complain about them being slow. I got it from Hob-E-MArt off of ebay for $100 shipped minus the reciever. I threw a spare JR 75MHRTZ synthesized recievr in it since I had a spare. Fixed the steering trim to 45%, it turns great but wont flip at WOT.
If I want fast I just throw my BJ26 powerd by an OS .18 in the pond [>:]. But for a 7y.o., the boat is great.
The only mod I did was to put some clear marine silicone around the seam, on the hull.
I'm going to get an 11.v lipo soon and see how much fun it is

Cool. I'm thinking about getting the kids a boat. I thought it would be the mini rio but maybe the apache would be a chioce also.
