Venom send me an e mail they said:
Not sure. If you were to do twin 6S you would want to change to different motors though. Those motors you'd be limited to about 4S each.

safe limit on these stock motors would be 3s
you would need to get a motor with a KV around 1500 if you wanted to run 6s
I think that this boat would hit mid 40s on 3s with proper setup and balance..
twin cats are very cool!
the sound they make is amazing

Agreed a Vid would be great.
Im a relative newbie to Electric boats- have gas and nitro but thought I should look at a fast brushless to add to my fleet.
How do you all think the KOS will compare with the Blackjack Brushless?

I don't think there is much compairison between the BJ26 and the new KOS
single vs twin motors, 26" vs 34"
more power and more stability and the sound of twins!

Too True.. Speed wise which would have the edge?
Too True.. Speed wise which would have the edge?
out of the box I think the edge would goto the KOS using 3s.. one should see low 40s
BJ26 is in the upper 30s
if you spend money on the BJ26 and get new hardware yoiu can run it on 5s and 6s on the stock esc and motor, and get into the 50s !

srt,
what hardware do you thing is the correct one for BJ26, also i was buying a new lippo battery packs 7.4v + 11.1= 18.5v 5s that i thing the esc will handle, 6s is too much the stock esc is 21v max.
Also the other option is remove the stock 1500kv motor and add a Neu 1509 1Y 3600kv and use 4s with the stock esc

The new KOS twin 2880kv x 11.1v= 31968 rpm each motor sounds slow to me if you thing about the fact that you have 2 motor pushing, of course is doble motor/esc weight will increase, for twin i was expecting close to 50mph

No, upper 20s to low 30s for FE boats is perfect power, anything over upper 30s is a waste and will let the majic smoke out and cost bucks..

I do not have a link to the different hardware, but they have it over at OSE
the stock esc will take 6s
3900kv is way to much for boats on 4s, you could try a 2000-2300kv motor but only with a low amp motor or you will jack you esc on 5s

RE: Venomâ„¢ King of Shaves C1 34
Venom, any news regarding the videos?
Looking forward to get one of these, but I'd like to see how it handles first.
Also, am I the only one thinking about upgrading motors to a lower KV and running 6S?
In such case, would the venom ESCs still under warranty if one does this?
more questions... what's the efficiency rating for the venom motors??
Looking forward to see more, this cat definitely looks like it could be a winner

Possibly could run 4s with lower KV motors, and get a bit better run time...
6s would tost the stock escs

Sorry no vids yet guys but we are working on it.
The EKOS does 40mph+ on 2 5400mah 3S packs in our testing. At the show in Vegas there was only one other boat in stock form that was faster and it was a hydroplane. The ESC's will handle 6S that is correct however you MUST change the motors due to excessive RPM's and load. Even smaller props will not be enough to reduce the Amp load at that high voltage level. Thats in the range of 70K RPM so that will not work. If you use 1500KV motors with 6S and subtract 20% for losses you would end up at about 30K shaft RPM under load. Depending on how you prop them and the amp loads it could be very fast but not practical. The EKOS is very low in side profile and a 6S battery set up will be shoe horned in the hull. The CG and AUW will be effected and could cause the boat to be unstable and fragile with all that weight.
If you made modifications and treated the hull like a kit you could come up with ways to stuff more batteries in the hull and adjust the CG back to a normal range. The battery mounts are designed around stick packs and our 3S 20C 5400mah Lipo (108A cont). To do a 4S set up you would have to use smaller packs or mod the battery mounts.
I would like to see someone use NEU motors and 80-100A ESC's on just 3S or 4S and see how fast the EKOS can go. You would have to use metal props for sure.

Actually going to lower kv motors and running 6s culd pull less amps and great speed!
and depending on what packs are used the CG will not be effected much at all, and if a little more weight is added it could help settle the boat more..
ashame no videos yet!

It is expensive but you do get twin brushless motors and a speed control that can handle two 3S Lipos, i must agree that it does look cool

Those motors KV are too high, less efficient. I'd rather exchange the stock motors for 2 black jack motors(which are 6 poles well balanced rotors and the kv is 1606 and if I'm correct the BJ motor is a Himax 3630 1500) I'd run them with 5s or 6s.

The BJ motors are 540 size, and would need bigger props to run good.. also they may pull more amps than the stock 380s.
better to go with a 380xl motor with a kv of 1400-1500 on 6s

The current motors are perfectly fine for the stock boat and they make great speed for this boat without any headaches. For someone who has very little experience with RC boats and wants a real power boat thats fast out of the box this is quite the boat for them. Its simple and fast and fun as is.
For the rest of the avid boater community you guys will find ways to make this cat fly I'm sure. The area around the motors in the sponsons is tight and if you wanted to run bigger can 540's your going to have to modify the mounts and make your own shaft tubes, etc.. If you use XL/XXL 380's you will find more torque and more power in general or even using the same size can in a lower KV and it will be ok at higher voltages. The motors are 50mm long but with the added water jacket they are 61mm long. With the water jacket the max OD is 34.5mm, shaft is 4mm, can dia is 28.2mm.

Yeah Fine Design has them listed on Ebay for sale now. Do they actually have them in stock? I'm still waiting for an email back from them. If not when can we actually expect this to come out? I live in Michigan & we only have about 2 more months of boating season left here.

To my knowledge they are in transit so we expect them here very soon so 3 weeks or so.
We had the graphics improved to be decals with a clear coat rather than your typical vinyl cut graphics with a clear coat. That will save some weight and improve the appearance. We also swapped out the ESC's for programmable ESC's rather than fixed program units. Thats why they can handle 6S and have some adjustments, we did this prior to the announcement but it did delay things a bit. We improved the props to handle higher rpm's as well.
We are working on a new video this week so we will post it and I'll put up a link here when its ready.
