RE: Traxxas EVX2
Nope i don't have any. It was all stock inside exept I put the servo(it was a villain IV) where the esc was and zip tied the trigger in right beside it. It worked really well and never had any touble with overheating. I was 13 when I built it aso i never took any pictures of it inside and moved on to brushless in the boat. Now i have the old motors in a retrieval boat that i built out of foam and tupperware.

RE: Traxxas EVX2
This thing flies with the new motors.....almost uncontrolable......So I'm gonna make it worse going up two teeth on the pinion gear, and ordered two 36mm x 1.4p 3 blade props from venom......I need to find a good turn fin and trim tab combo now, any ideas?

RE: Traxxas EVX2
SWEET I am excited for you.......i guess the ole EVX is crankin out the right juice. I'd probably mess with the bigger pinions too..........just watch your temps.

RE: Traxxas EVX2
Too much power! lol Stripped one of the spur gears after two runs..lol almost imposible to drive! should have trim tabs, turn fins, and 3blade 38mmx1.4p props next week...probably should put wings on it...lol

Wow.........a brushed villain with so much power and speed...............thats a good thing isnt it? Were your pinions tightened down just enough for a thin piece of paper to pass thru? Please............pictures and/or vids!!

RE: Traxxas EVX2
I'll post pics and vid after I get the rest of th parts in a week or so......
Pinions were definatly set right......
Might ad another evx2 found out from Traxxas you can tie the outputs to one motor

RE: Traxxas EVX2
You can tie the two of them together, but due to the nature of electricity, one will be favored over the other. so it will be pushing/pulling more amps then the other. So it may blow, and then you only have one running both motors. (I am assuming you meant tie together as in the outputs)
If you run two, use one for each motor.

RE: Traxxas EVX2
One per motor putting out 14v.....one motor tied to one esc the ohter tied to one.....for a grand total of two bateries to each motor....should increase run time and add some stability with the othe pair of batteries in the bow of the boat. Keeps it brushed and kinda stock.....

RE: Traxxas EVX2
You dont need two EVX's! The one you have provides the series voltage of your two batts to each motor...........they each get the series voltage..........2 x 6 cells, each motor getting 14.4 nominal. Of you want more run time, do like i did when my villain was brushed. I put 4 2s lipos in it two each in series connected to each batt connector and slid two of em up into the bow. I had 10,000 mah total, or 5000 per motor. You can put 4 of these in it............or two for 5000 total...........

If you know something thats new to me in running two EVX's, please share it with me.

RE: Traxxas EVX2
Those motors only pull 10-15 amps max each anyways................the esc will supply only what the motor pulls, no more.............it will just be heavier.............and a bit slower.........The EVX is more than capable of running two 550's even hotter 550's or 650's...........Traxxas made sure when they manufactured it that it would have some "room" in it. I think the 30 amp cont. is bogus...........it is listed with a rated forward current of 180.
On-Resistance (Forward & Reverse): .004 ohms
Rated Current (Forward & Reverse): 180A
Continous Current: 30A
BEC Voltage: 6 volts DC
BEC Current: 2.5A
Power Wire: 14 Gauge/9"
Switch Harness: 26 Gauge/4"
Input Harness Wire: 26 Gauge/9"
Transistor Type: MOSET
PWM Frequency: 1700 Hertz
Protection: Thermal Shutdown
Look at these specs for the e-savege 14.4v esc
Input Voltage: 7.2V x 2 14.4V
Brake current: 320A
Compatible motor: E-Savage Motor
Maximum Instantaneous Current: (F/R) 160A/160A
Here is an 80 dollar associated
Voltage Input: 4-8 cells (4.8-9.6V)
Typical Voltage Input: @20A-0.027V
REc. Motor Limit: Over 12 turns
Rated Current: 360A
BEC: 5V
Weight (excl. wires): 28g (.98oz)
Case size: 41 x 36 x 19mm (1.61 x 1.41 x .74")

RE: Traxxas EVX2
Current motor are rated at 240watt at zero load....as i change props and gearing all is going to change esc is rated for 30 amps continuous.......motors are $19 a piece esc $104
i want it to be fast and efficient..... one esc exta will give that combo.....even with the modified 650s in it now i need heavier.......ampererage rises as battery volts drop, that's when most escs fry
i am trying to remove that issue, with the addition of the second stock esc. now do you understand whay i am trying to accomplish? It will also cure esc heat issues.....

RE: Traxxas EVX2
i could put in a castle.....but i want to stay with stock parts if possible. a lot of the castle escs will run brushed or brushless.....which is cool but not for this boat.....I like to make slow stock faster with thier own parts

I think with some good lipos and one esc with the motors you have can get some really good speed buts that's my opinion
but if you do go with twin esc you could get some 4s lipos so then you only have 2 batteries total when you ripp on some brushless

RE: Traxxas EVX2
Remember ohms law....heat icreases resistance
resistance increases amps
lowering volage as you run does both
lowered voltage as you run increases amps to about 34 on these motors.....4 amps over the stock rating, play with props,gearing,etc.....= 2 escs
