Yes, the servo limit. You don't need the rudder to move as far as it is possible. 45 degrees is too much. You want to balance it so it turns the same amount both directions. 30 degrees is plenty when up to speed.

Uh huh. Not so bulletproof, eh? [sm=wink_smile.gif]
I hovered on the bolt hull ad on HK website and it went down to $38-something! The only hassel is drilling the holes in the right places and fixing the stuffing tube. But what a deal. I found another reason for using a bec. I'm going to be using a 4S lipo in a larger jetboat. The internal bec of the 200A esc can't handle that voltage, so I removed the red pin/wire and installed a bec to do the job.

Well the BEC on the 45A is only 5V 2A.
The draw from the servo will have blown the BEC for sure so I just wont use a digi any more.
I have a hull coming and I have managed to restore bolt 1 to better than former glory.

You have bolt one repaired?! That took some work, to be sure. What will you do with bolt two - is it hopeless? Are you still pursuing installing bearings in the strut?

Bolt 1 is indeed better than before in terms of strength and maybe shape too.
Bolt 2 will also be repaired when I get the time.
I have some more pressing issues at the moment and might not be able to be on here as much as I have of late but we shall see.
I'll get back onto bearings as a celebration if and when my more pressing issues are sorted. I have to fix the runaway issue too of course but I think we have a handle on that.
Its all been bonded and reglassed including transom sponson and all. She is pre paint now...

Yes, looks like you've got it under control. That one sponson is a little yugli, but beauty is as beauty does. And I understand about 'pressing issues', and hope it doesn't press very hard or long for you. Best of luck on that. Sdg.

That sponson will look fine once sprayed. The pic does not do it justice. I gotta keep busy at the moment so might work on her some more soon sdz. The new hull arrived today too but not using it till the runaway is sorted.

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
The runaway... yes. I think you were on it when you suggested the mandate for setting the failsafe. If all went out of control because of low voltage - due to high current drain from a jammed digital servo, or water interference, or whatever - it may have saved things. Experience always comes at a price. I have a feeling things won't happen quite like that again. It will be fresh gremlins next time, and you'll likely be at the ready with sword (Tx) in hand!

I just noticed www.hobbypartz.com is now carrying a NICE selection of the 2040 motors. Many different KV's to choose from!
Very exciting news!

Indeed but they all have those pesky 2.0mm shafts
Have you sorted your water ingress Bass ?
I heat that a piece of silicone tube over the stuffing tube and making contact with the flex is a good way.

Hi guys! I've only been gone a few months and must say that I'm really surprised as to how far you guys have pushed the envelopewith the bolt.
I'm still trying to get up to speed on your setups now.
I symphatize with you Rake. 2 Bolts and counting . . . youdo seem to be the only oneon the bottom side of the pond most of the time. []
My unsolicited advice - Invest in a good (branded)Radio. The logic here is that you pour a lot of money onit but guess what holds the lifeline of your boat?
Cheap radios mean cheap components - correct me if I am wrong. I can live with driver error anytime overTx/Rxfailure. The cheap radios from China I am wary of. Yes, most if not all things, are made there now but the difference between branded and cheap equipment is research, quality control and materials used. For the record, I am not against other people using these FS and other Chinese branded radios - many swear by them.I do use other cheap equipment in my boats . . .just not the thing that controls it.
Waterproofing issues? I have dunked all of my servos, esc's and spektrum rx's in Corrosion X andhave not had a single issue with any of them - even underwater. You may want to look intoit.
I also had (still have) "pressing issues" so I have not touched my Bolt for a few months now.But I did invite a few boaters to the pond this Sunday. Hope it pushes through. I want to test theVenom 3 blade EKOS plastic propswhile myOctura's are waiting to be SBP'd. Yes, I did get the Venoms to fit in the stock shaft rather easily.I will gladly share the knowledge if it holds up.
As Grimracer always say . . . Good Water toall!

We all fell asleep.
My Bolt has been shelfed until I do something with the flex cable. I gotta cut away some of the stuffing tube to allow room to do anything. Been hesitant to do this.

My bolt is resting in the shed for a while. I didn't had the time to run it due to other jobs that needs to be done. But it is now summertime here so I guess I'll give it a try soon.

Nice to see you're still out and about. Sorry to hear about your wife - hope she gets well soon. This thread just came to a dead hault after you stopped posting! Hopefully you'll be able to gewt one of the boats running soon, I miss your trials and tribulations.

Sounds good. On the new hull I suppose the stuffing tube is the most difficult item to relocate. Well, and all those holes in the transom. Green and orange?! Won't be a problem spotting that boat, fer sure.

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
Hi guys!
I'm watching this thread, but I have not done many things with my Bolt.
Lust runs in 2010 I have finished trying different props with default setup. Have find out that 30&32 props are good enough and I would prefer 30 in many cases with stock setup.
This year I bought another one Bolt from HK (in order to not be alone at the pond).
Now they comes without ESC, so I ordered Turnigy Marine 60A ESC from HK. (I know it's too big and heavy, but that was the only I could order from HK at that moment).
I received 2nd boat, made some soldering with the ESC and almost ready for the first run, but still have not done this.
The only thing, that disappointing me is that drive dog's part of drive cable not holds firmly with the flex one (cable is square shaped and just put in the rod). And it is also greased. First I decided to glue it, but seems like it is designed to be so.
A little bit strange, because in the first Bolt all the cable with the rod looks like one complete part.

I think in my Bolt it is also two pieces slided into each other. with the square shape.
This weekend I was in a 1:1 boat with the small bolt next to it. that was funny to see. when the 1:1 boat runs full throttle and the Bolt at the same speed on the side, I hit full throttle. The acceleration was awesome! Too bad the 1:1 made some big waves so the small bolt flipped a couple of times
