Im going to work on getting mine back together today. The only messing around I need to do is to relocate the antenna OR water exit.

I think the antenna is best to move, but could be wrong.

Hoping to get it in the water later tonight or tomorrow after work. Will have eagle tree readings when I do

I dunno about anyone saying this is too slow on 3s, I'd say its pretty quick for what it is...

100% stock except a 32mm prop, and the sponson bottoms trued up a bit. I still have a lot more work to do on the sponsons to sharpen them and get them fully trued, but it runs quite well for a cheap little guy. It comes in stone cold after 6-7 minutes, and I'm only putting about 900mah back into the packs (2200 packs, could go MUCH longer):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RRphCQi134

I found out something you don't want to do with these things... hit a floating stick at WOT :

I've got it all apart now, and have a thin ply double cut out and laminating right now (two layers of 1/32" ply). I'll have it glued into the transom shortly, then get it sealed up and back together.

I dont think mine was horribly slow either- but I think it should be more:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSjQ1...er_profilepage

This was my last run with it.

I got the plywood doubler in the back and the strut & rudder mount in. Also the bellow- I put mine inside the hull. Hope to get the screws to mount the motor and set the stuffing tube tomorrow.

Tuesday is run day- I hope.

All back together, really easy fix.  The transom how has a 1/16" ply doubler (two pieces of 1/32" laminated together), and a 1/8" square basswood  reinforcement at the bottom.

I reversed the hardware bolts until I can get some blind nuts.  I've got a long ball driver that easily reaches the heads of the bolts, and I can use a socket or wrench easily on the nuts too.

Mine had a rather large radius on the bottom side. I would say 1/16" or slightly more. Was odd. I intend to stiffen up the rear of the hull a tad. Back where the servo mounts.

Also note with running 4S it will allow me to goto two packs- one on each side and correct the CG on this boat.

My CG isn't bad with a 3s 2200mah pack in front of the motor.  I put it as far forward as I can and still get the hatch on.  It's a bit aft, but only about 1/2" further back than I'd like.

@wparsons - Looking at your pics, I think you need to put a gap between the drive dog and the strut. That is where the binding is.

^^ I don't have any binding with mine at all, the drive line spins over super smooth and easy as it sits.  There is a bit of a gap on mine, I found that stock the stub was binding in the strut.  I had to move the drive dog towards the threads a bit and put it all together.

Keep in mind it has the stock two piece flex/stub nonsense, so it doesn't pull the prop closer when the flex winds up.  Once I get my hands on some parts I'll be making a wire drive for it though.

Well tonight has been a real bummer.

The .062 wire drive is absolutely way to stiff to work. That is a loss of $30... I hope to use it on another upcoming project though.

I went back to the stock flex cable and shaft for now. The square end was not square for a long enough length + the cable length is to long overall. So I cut off a bit and made the square portion longer and smaller so it works easier.

Now the next problem is the motor mount is on a slight angle front/rear and the drive angle is not correct. These two compound angles are what is causing the bind in mine.

If I brake the motor mount loose I will break the motor mount in the process. So it seems Im in need of a new motor mount. Im also wanting to switch this to .098" cable instead of the large stuff thats stock. I already have shafts and uts for the .098" but nobody seems to have the cable/Teflon...

I think this guy is having some issues. He (Force Control) pointed me there the other day and now he pulled out his listings.
I was going to order yesterday butwas having second thoughts with the negative ratings.
Now it's somewhat confirmed.

Too bad, he had cheap esc's!

But I'm guessing he repackged the "Mystery" brand esc and just put watercooling in.
Or . . .he ordered them with w/cooling.

I bought one of these for a replacement:

A little more $$$ but supposedly better quality.

This may be a dumb question but that ESC does not look waterproof. Isn't that going
to cause problems.

ETTI RC is well known in the RC boating world.
He makes good ESC's.
That ESC I'm sure is coated with conformal epoxy.
He makes and sells other products too.
Even Steve of O.S.E. sells his products.

ETTI items are kinda pricey. Guess you pay for quality.

Check his online store here:

and the UK site here:

that was my first thought too. So I got meself my hot glue gun and put glue on it on both sides. But as I am not getting water in the hull I expect no problems with it!

Ok, so I take the bolt out and ran it on the plastic prop and it ran pretty good,
but was coming out of the water (skipping) once and awhile. Then I went to a
different pond and it was a little rougher but not much (small waves) and put on
the x432 prop and it went ok but was popping out of the water more often.
Then it did a sub dive and somehow the throttle got stuck on but the remote
was in nuetral position. Anyway it was diving straight down with a stream of
bubbling water coming up (must be very shallow). Then it popped back up to
the surface and I could hear the sevo working but the motor would not.
So I go get the pole with the tennis ball and then try the remote again and
I was able to get it back, the motor started to work again. I pulled the canopy
off and the motor was hot and smelled like it was burning. I then tried
to see if it would still run and it did, but I packed it up and went home. I like the stock
motor but in case it's fried, what or where can I get a replacement. Also how smooth
does the water have to be to run the bolt.

Skipping is normal and can't be avoided. Unless you run on "glass" water. Much like pool water - dead calm.
Just make sure that when she skips, she's level with the surface. Play with the CoG to achieve this.

Ok, Thanks.
I am looking for a replacement motor and I can't seem to find anything
in the 2000 - 3000kv range.

Ive been told these need about 38,000 RPM at the prop.

So depends on what battery you are running.

4S you want 2500-2600 kV area.

3S you want 3500-3600 kV area.

I got a 3500 1240 BUT it has to small of a shaft... 2mm not the 2.13mm our current motors has...

I think that's too high a KV rating.
But if you use a smaller diameter prop like the X427 . . . . maybe.
Why not do the testing on this motor. It's for a good cause!
