Default 32" HOTR repair job

i was stupid, left throttle release and turning to late and ran into the dock wall, not as much damage as i thought but it was still annoying
boat stayed afloat (flotation in the bow section) i used epoxy resin & 3mm balsa (2 pieces glued together)

heres some photo's of my repair job, i know its rough so please dont laugh (i did enough that)

try again with the photos, you'll also notice there's some modification to the transom, 3mm balsa epoxyed over the dug out sections on the transom aswell

Hi Nick ,

I can sympathise with your concern , where i run my Apparition hull the lake is surrounded by a cement kerb which i have hit a few times ( not a nice feeling ) . When i am up for a repair job to my boats i try & follow the contour of hull with builders bog ( panel beating ) then after i am happy with the results i Fibreglass over with a this layer of resin sand & then paint . Though it seems from your pictures that you have a job on your hands , just try & work on damage when you are in the mood & feel relaxed ....

All the best ,

Brad

cheers brad

as you can see, the repairs done and the modification aswell, i was thinking of using bondo next time andalight resin layer aswellbut it was my very first repair job, idid waita few days (when calm) to do it but at least i can put it back on the water again and finish dialing in, i added the balsa because i noticed it was filling with water and causing drag, i have done that mod before and know it helps, maybe others will take some ideas and implement them to there own boats, i hate hole's when theres no need for them

I had the same problem with my cat, I mixed small parts of fiberglass layer with resin and finished sanding

Hi Nick ,

Looks good mate , that is the nose job repair that you have done on your cat . With you filling the rear section with balsa , i haven't with mine & could only imagine only slight gain in modifying them , i run at times my 8xl BL Motor on 4s & reach speeds of around 50mph - having stated that i commend you for tinkering with your HOR cat while learning to use Fibreglass to your advantage & we all need to in R/c Boating as we share in common a fear of that solid bit of furniture sitting on the side of our waterways ... ( LOL )

Off the subject , what about Fergie selling out Prince Andrew for half a million pound , it was seen on National TV in OZ - what a sod hey ...

All the best mate ,

Brad

fergie's a pillock, what size prop are you running brad ??? i tried 38mm and then 40mm, i think the 40mm is better, its just a case of getting the strut right at the moment

i agree r2 about driving school, on the day of the accident the water was choppy, it was her maiden run with dialing in and did'nt want to push to hard so i went in the smaller pond, it was long, narrow and 18" - 20" deep but was good for what i needed

Hi Nick ,

Not sure if we know what the word " Pillock " means in Oz , though it sounds right for her !! ( LOL ) . did you see footage of her when she landed at LAX over the last couple of days ?? she was hiding behind a minder & obviously in distress bighting her nails ...
she is in Los Angeles to accept an award for charitable causes ( go figure LOL ) . If you come across an Octura x440 ( ozziecrawl F/E Ledgend down under graciously gave it to me ) it has worked wonders with my set up as its pitched low & will keep amps low while proving great bight on smaller ponds i run on 50 metre straights , would highly reccomend it & if you buy one let me know how you get on mate ??
