    RE: Miss Geico 29 Catamaran

Revashley , I run these[link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=16206[/link], but recently puffed one for some reason. I think it was at a lesser voltage than the other pack I was running it with since I'm using 2 different chargers. It was barely warn to the touch so I don't think it was over drawn more than the rated 100A. I had 6 of them total and the other ones run very cool.

But, I think I'll be ordering 4 of ether of these 2 shortly. Havent made up my mind yet on which ones though.
    5000mah 30C[link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=16202[/link]
    5800mah 25C[link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=14995[/link]

On another note, my T-180A ESC and connectors came in today so I spent the evening installing it and changing out the Deans connectors on my LiPos to 4mm bullets. IMO, the 4mm are fine since they are good for up to 100A continues or 150A bursts. I do how ever have 5mm bullets on the motor leads. I made the order on the 30th and it came in today. Fast shipping!!!
I'll be hitting the pond tomorrow with the video camera rolling[8D]

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments on my photos, that's my other hobby and believe me, the money I have dumped in my camera makes my Miss Geico seem like a poor man's boat

Anyway, special thanks for the tips on the batteries. I'm going to order some of those badboys soon. I'll post some videos when I get out to run again... May not be soon though cause my wife is due any day now with our first child  So if he comes this week, I won't be out this weekend, or any time soon for that matter...LoL... but that will give me some dry time to tweak the boat. Thanks again...

i would order a couple of these too. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9177

run them in parallel like i have set up in the picture and you get lots of run time, there is just enough room for them to fit. As you can see by my collection these packs don't last very long in the FE boating world. 4s 2p so i have 14.8 v with 10000 mah, the weight doesn't seem to slow it down much but i haven't got the chance to gps the difference if any though.

I always had good luck with thesehttp://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10305. I just bought these but haven't received them yethttp://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11938, higher the c rating the better. I run mostly 30c & 40c's in my boats. More amps the batts can provide the better! The nano's are rated at 25c constant but 50c burst. I am only running 4s1p in my MG, only boat I run 2p in is my mono with a leopard 4074 2200kv, that motor can pull some serious amps! Happy boating....

Hey diesel, what would be the best 4s lipo combo to run in this boat? I pretty much am running 2s 5000MaH packs. What would be the best packs that would run with the stock gear without having to change any of the connectors? Obviously they have to combine for 4s, but I know there are different powers of 2s batteries and I am just ignorant. I am definitely going to order the grim racer prop. Anyway, the boat is really fast as it is, so I'm not looking to go too much faster, but I just want to make sure that I'm getting the most out of my lipos. I'm just curious what 2s packs everyone is running that will run the strongest... Thanks for all your info

I'm still stuck on these[link]http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=9172[/link]. These are the ones I ran in the video I posted yesterday and the warmest thing in the boat was the motor. I didn't have my temp gun but I would have to say the ESC and LiPos were around 80* and the motor probably close to 90*. The same LiPo is now here in the USA warehouse for $18. I am however going to start charging them in a 4S configuration so the voltage stays as close as possible, so I don't puff one again. I'm looking at buying an Eagle Tree logger before I buy any more LiPos. I highly doubt the new setup is pulling more than 100A continues. IF thats the case then those $18 paks are more than enough until I start my new job.

I dont now about those 4S packs in the MG. I would run some 2650mah or 3000mah packs. Long run times are great but watching a boat zip back and forth for more than 5-10 minutes at a time would put me to sleep[:-]

While you are switching out your packs i will be running laps, 2 boats on the water and it adds a little excitement back. I like that T-180 with the cc 1800 though, nice set up right there.

    [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE0btYCDXnM[/link]

I ether fried my all 4 of my LiPos yesterday or both my T180s have issues. Seems like LVC kicks in just after a few minutes, regardless of battery voltage. Reprogrammed the ESc a few time with different voltage configurations and even took the LVC off and still act the same. So ether my LiPos cant hold the amperage, though they have voltage, or the ESCs were a waste of money. Gonna put the stock ESC back in and see if she runs good for more than 10 feet. [:'(]

I hit 48.3 yesterday on a turnigy 2300kv, stock esc, and a m445, it ended poorly for the turnigy motor but i don't think it was all its fault, i tried taking the motor apart by taping the shaft with a hammer but all i did was jack it up i think, the shaft always had a lot of play in it after that. I had a x437 on there but it air rated or had cavitation on lower speed corners, she was also bouncing all over the place, 4s1p and 4s2p need completely different bat positions and i don't quite have 4s1p figured out. Ran nice on the 2300 kv but when ever i tried going full throttle without easing on it would just cut out, but i did manage that 48.3 mph pass. I really want to be in the 45-50 mph range if not faster at WOT. I have more 4s configurations possible with my batteries then any thing else. I am contemplating between the stock 1500 kv on 6s, the ul1 2030 on 4s or a ammo 2300 on 4s. I'm pretty sure srt would say 1500 on 6s too keep run times up by increasing voltage and not so much amperage. I have a turnigy 1800 kv to try yet, but i know it wont be enough on 4s and i am trying to get away from 5s. unless it were 5s 2p but i don't have the room for that, or one 5s cell but, my boats use a two battery set up. Is it possible to have a reliable 45 mph miss geico, i really like this hull but coming from a sv on 5s the speed isn't quite there

speed on the x437 was 39. something or another, didn't try anything in between

set up was not right at all hard to get it right the first try. like i said the motor was junk, came in at over 120 while the esc and bats were at less then 80. what kind of run times with that leopard though, not trying to increase amp draw into 3 min run time territory. so you think the ul1 motor will get me to the 50 mph range? 4074 sounds like a hefty motor.

    Bang!
yes going lower kv with higher volts helps keep the amps lower.
If it were me I would try the UL-1 motor on 4s
and I would run 4000mah 4s packs in parallel for great runtimes

i think i will go with the ul1 on 4s 2p 5000 mah since that is what i have. Can't say too much about the details but to reach a goal i have set i am going to need as much run time as possible from a set of packs, right now i'm looking for an efficient 50mph + wot with a cruising speed around 35. Will i be able to run a larger prop with the ul1 vs the ammo? I was thinking my props past x440/3 might start getting big on the 2300kv, is a m445 too much for sure? I don't have any selection in the 41-44 mm range, i have and x437 and 440/3 and 40 53 grim the 42-55 grim then a m445 and an x645, I know i could always get more props but i'm really starting to dislike the SBP process.

asupervee72 , told you it would be hard finding the sweet spot with those big packs . This is a video of this last weekend where I ran my boat with the Castle 1800kv outruner, T180ESC, and 5K mah 20C LiPos next to another MG with a UL1 motor, stock ESC, NanoTech batteries and a carbon prop from OSE. I didn't get the prop size or number. I'm not even going to tell you which boat is mine because he is faster than me. Not by much, but still faster. He drives his at WOT through the turns though, and I don't so that also puts space between us. I'm still scared of flipping mine and damaging my cover. Down side is that he got a bit less run time.
    [link]http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17048000&postcount=3819[/link]

If you want more speed throw the stock motor back in, get a T180 and run it on 6S with a nice size prop. Just my opinion....and you probably already knew, but the UL1 motor is an Ammo motor.

SRT, I have put back as much as 4800mah in to my packs after a run with the T180 esc. I don't know if I hurt my batteries this weekend though with the 1512, but the boat would not go past 1/2 throttle with the T180. LVC might of been kicking in too soon, or it may have just been user error. It's a great ESC when I ran it with the outrunner, but the temps told me the 1512 pulled more amps. With the outrunner the LiPos were at 89*-90*, and 130* with the 1512. I'll be getting some 40C LiPos soon but have settled on the CC outrunner. Might throw the stock ESC back in though. Nothing makes a boat wheelie at full throttle from a dead stop like an outrunner motor. [:-]

I also want to remove the wood from inside, lay a layer of carbon inside and use a nice motor mount. I will keep the battery trays but I will drop them inside the ride pads to lower the CG even more.

Here is a shot of my boat with the 1512. TIGHT fit on the clear cover!

lol. it is the 2s packs im having trouble with, the added weight of the 2 4s packs keeps me on the back ride pad and i'm flying, heading full throttle towards myself. there a little bit of rudder, some prop and very little of the sponsons, then you turn and it settles back down. This thing is a dream on 4s2p, i recommend it to all. Yzfbrad and i were running, his stock set up with 5000 mah 30-40 c packs and i had the m445 with 4s2p and i was walking all over him, out of the hole top end, I think he still has turning fears, he the one bac king off while i stay wot, he wasn't very happy when i'd let him have a head start and then blast by him. I need to gps the 4s2p set up to see the difference the weight makes, with it ridding better i think it may be faster, if not just as fast. I had a m445 he was on stock prop so that was pobably a huge difference plus my rudder is shifted to the right about in inch.

Just ordered another 1800kv outrunner. I want to have 2 motors on hand for when I gather all the parts to make her a twin

it does handle differently in the turns but i think if you drop them all the way down like you are talking about doing it will minimize the effect. There is just a little bit more roll with the 4s packs, but it doesn't want to flip or anything. Also i do think it makes it handle the chop a little better because there is more weight cutting through the water. Losifiend they work well for me and if you are bored after 8 min of zipping back and forth then you can always stop and enjoy a short recharge time. I'm not real trusting of the PB 3.0v cut off for the lipo. wish i could program to 3.3v. I get scared to get close to the cut off, especially after puffing a pack. When are we all going to run again. I am going to have to drop in a T180 and the UL1 2030 to keep up with u guys, but we should set up a day to run together, everything fell through with the holidays last time we were going to. Anybody have a ul1 motor and a t180 esc they are looking to get rid of? And i didn't know the ul1 was an ammo but that is all good, i'm more concerned with the kv rating 2300 vs 2030.

Dude, I'm down to run whenever! I'll drive up near you to Silverwood if you want, which I actually prefer since I banged up my boat again on the bank of that small pond. Just a little scratch on one sponson, but next time it could be worse[:@]. I found 5800MAH LiPos in 4S configuration here in the states. I think I'm going to order 2 of those this coming week. For now the 5K 20C packs are still holding great! Definitely go with the 2030kv. Less amperage draw and easier on the electronics while still pushing the stock prop well.

I have been running at Hanson Dam. Great group of people there and usually at least 6-7 boats on the water going at it. FUN! But like I said, we can meet anywhere except this little pond. I have the T180 for my BJ26 you can borrow if you need while we run. You run an external pack anyways, right?

My Turnigy 180A ESC had a bad BEC so I installed a Medusa Research external BEC I had lying around. Back in business[8D]. The stock ESC works with other motors, but it lacks "punch" when compared to a higher rated ESC.

srt10, they make a 2200 outrunner? Where?? The reason I got the 1800kv is because they were on clearance. I would rather pay full price, $59, for a 6 pole UL1 Ammo motor.

I love the torque of the outrunner motor, specially coming out of a turn but last I ran it it was a bit warm inside the boat. The lack of water cooling is apparent. So looking through my stuff I came across some aluminum brazing rods that I bought at a 1:1 boat show when we lived in Dallas. I was looking for a way to make a cooling plate for the outrunner motor. I also have some 3/16 aluminum angle iron that goes to 1/4" at the "L", so it makes a very sturdy mount. I cut out a mount from the stock I had an brazed some aluminum lines on it. Here is what I came up with. I'll be testing it out this weekend
