Default Traxxas Blast Won't Idle (Sit with motor not running)

I pulled an old Traxxas Blast I had from years ago out of the attic to mess with, but cannot get this thing to idle.

I've messed with the esc and turned the screws as manual suggests, but can only get the prop to slow down, not stop completely. I am doing this with the remote switches all set to the middle as the manual also suggests.

Not sure what to do at this point...

try setting the throttle trim on the transmitter back a little bit, as if you were reducing the throttle speed. ive had similar issues with older planes that i used to fly, and i had to reduce the throttle trim to get it neutral

Tried that, still doesn't work....

Messed with every setting on controller / esc, think I might have to buy a new esc maybe...

yeah that would be my guess then, usually if the motor is spinning like your saying it is just a matter of adjusting it.
