I got mine in yesterday, and ran it today stock. The speed actually surprised me, it would have put my stock Triton to shame...sad to say. The control however was terrible, but it's made by 5 year olds so whatever. Getting ready to cut into it now!

the combo will work fine, will probably want 2s batteries as 3s will get the motor pretty darn hot, and outrunner cant be water cooled very well

Unless someone has a reason why these won't work, I think I'm going to make these my batteries to go with the 3000kv Outrunner and 30amp esc. This will keep the "cheap as hell" theme going too.

whats the mounting hole distance for the motor mount in the tear into?

2s lipo's at 3000 rpm's (7.4v x 3000 x 80% (losses) = 16,800 rpm's) is relatively slow. You'll want to use 3s or 4s (11.1 to 14.8v) to get into the upper 20's/lower 30's for a peppy boat. Which motor are you using?

It's just a cheap mystery outrunner, I posted a link at the top of this page. I was thinking 7.4v per demons advice.

That's a good motor. In fact, all of those heli outrunners with the 2.3mm shafts are good candidates, they're just difficult to cool properly. You can use that motor and get higher voltage batts or get a motor with a higher rpm range, but I feel 7.4 with that motor will be anemic. :eek:

I have that same motor (2700kv though) and it gets incredibly hot with no cooling on 11.1v. I went to Lowes and bought a piece of 1/8" aluminum stock and soldered some k&s brass tubing to it, I'll mount the plate between the motor and the jet unit. I'm hoping that relatively thick chunk of water cooled aluminum will be enough to cool the outrunner.

I have to second sundogz opinion on 7.4v as well. My 2700 kv running on 11.1v was quick but not as fast as I'd like, on 7.4v it would have been pretty doggy.

You'll need something to water cool that motor too... It's an inrunner, so you can just get a coil somewhere.

Ryan, yes you'll need to cool the motor and it wouldn't hurt to cool the esc. You may need a pistix with that type transmitter. Why that motor? If you use one on the many available with a 2.3mm shaft, you won't need that coupler and probably have more power as well. You'll need to consider what voltage (battery) you want to run. If it were me, I'd go with 3s lipo's but 2s is lighter and so may perform better in a small boat (I'm testing that theory in a Jet Ski soon). A pistol type transmitter is more suitable, and good reliable FM transmitters are cheap right now on ebay (pulls from new trucks). The servo can be hot-glued right onto the hull if you want. Sdg

Ryan, I'm using the same servo that you posted. I pulled out the factory servo mount, ripped the crap servo out of it and glued it back in the hull. Then superglued the Futaba servo in the mount.

you will also need batteries and a charger.

the coupler i would wait on, mine came with a solid coupler and not a u joint so i was fine there

those are the motors a lot of us are using (size-wize, and a bunch are that same motor). 2 of my friends and i all have that motor (ordered from that seller too)

It's just that there are others that are faster (3200-3500kv) that already have a 2.3mm shaft. The 16mm mounting hole spacing is almost universal in this size of motor. Sdg

the coupler is unnecessary unless you get a boat with a u join as a coupler.

the motors are big, most of us are using 2040 size motors, the one you linked at the top is 2445, which is about the same size but will draw more power making run times shorter.

water pickup is optional, i run mine through the jet drive so as long as there is water moving through the drive, the motor and esc are being cooled

water outlet is unnecessary kinda, just put a hole that the fuel tubing will fit through and feed it out the back
