Hey there bud,..Thanks!

Yea,..If you look back to post #49 you can see that I covered my plug with masking tape. Theres a wax on the tape that resin wont stick to,..BUT it has to be the blue 3M mask. I ran out of 3M so I used TrueValue brand to finish it,the 3M came rite out nice and easy, the later was a mess...!!!!!!I will NOT make that mistake again.!!!!

I have done some major reading of old school ways to do small one off things like this.I will have to say doing my homework on this project has paid off well. I will be making my own hacthes and cowles from now on thats for sure.

The boat really looks great. You've done a real nice job on it. Nice looking cowl. I should make one too, but I've never taken the time to do it. Doug

Thought I saw the blue tape, great idea for one off moulding.
I have heard of using aluminum foil for the same thing, smooth it down over the shape then glass straight over. When dry lift it straight off, I think the foil stays in the piece though!

For the oiler I found what Im using for the oiler tank in an old fuel oil tank.It was the gauge float balb. The ajustment valve is an old nitro carb needle from a .15.Im not using teflon in my stuffing tube so I used all K&S brass and drilled a hole in it and soldered on an old nitro pipe nipple.Ive yet to figure out a cool way to mount it. So for now im using a syringe to shoot Mercry 2-4C in it at will.I have a small hole in the top of the drive to do the same.

Thanks!

Soon Doug,..I dont have a trustworthy RX/TX. I mean I heve a few older FM Futaba ones that work great for my nitro cars. I just dont know about the range on them.I would feel better using AM. I do have a Venom failsafe,..I guess so why not?

Im not a RX/TX guy,..

Any info would be great.

The AM radios will be more likely to have interference from the engine ignition than the FM. Doug

Thanks Doug.

I ended up robbig a 2.4GH out of one of my sons cars,...ssssssh,...dont tell him! LOL

This boat RIPS!! Rite outta the hole,....tossed it in the water and off it went,...all in all ,..A GEAT running boat, and pretty darn fast.Messd with it yasterday and got it all running fine, cracked the pipe at the base of the first cone,.It was a bit too thin ,that was me geting it all perdy with the DA sander,a quick fix ,the I was back at it.Seems to run really nice on about 2-3" chop.I may want to get a 250ml bag too.I folded the 1000 on half and tucked it under the motor.Over all,.. Im pleased with my results.

Im using a pretty thined and cupped Prather 275.Its running pretty good, but I feel theres a LOT more,..some ware, and its the prop.Remember I have basically a stock RCMK non EVO 254.What are you using Doug?Any recomendations?Remember too that Im on a budget here ,..Ill get raw props and do them myself.

Sounds like you're havin some fun. Can't wait to see some pics of it running. The props that have worked best for me are a 3014 or a 6717/3, but then my boat is only 48" lol Doug

Since Im using a RCMK modded 254 EVO 2mm stroker Im going to try a 6719/3 #465. More pitch less lift. I just weighed it and its about 17-18lbs.So Ill see what happens.I feel itll be the magic prop,....then Ill get some footage to post on the tube.

This is probably the best thread ive read inna while! I was going to go do something but instead I read EVERY post, now that I have I have a few questions, 1. How did you make the hardware?? 2. What wood did you use?? and 3. if you take a look at my boat I am taking the lid off and fixing up ALOT of mistakes, any tips perhaps? on the most part im going to lowes right now and getting wood for my mono! im gonna build one close to the same one but im gonna design it myself and make my own hardware like you did and im using another weed eater but I have acess to a HUGE machine shop in Michigan so I might mod it out top to bottom, any tips? and I would like to see a video of that thing ripping!

1.)Ok ,..thanks Bro! With the hardware I just used my imagination.I also used nothing fancy to do it,a drill press, belt sander and a band saw with a wood blade,..a table saw too. LOL Um ,..well what part of the harware you want to know about in particular?I got all the Alu from a scrap yard,..

2.)I used 1/8 Luane for the outer , its used for Door skins. The inards are 1/2 " Luane from say a big box store.

3. Il take look at yer boat,...AND YES,..It ripps thats fer sure,..Im just not that puter savy and Im on dial up ,..so loading vid is like building a rocket ta go to the moon,...LOL

4.) As far as motors go ,..Mines a Frankenstien RCMK/Zen/ Onilli Bros 2mm stroker that prolly kickin out 6 HP.I know nothing about weedies.Sorry on that one,...

Hi I'm just starting to make a 48" prowler and wondering what size props you all are using. if anyone has plans with dimensions on them it would be greatly appreciated as i only have Doug's from model power boat.com which have thickness but not dimensions on the other sizes

The plans are full size. If you have them printed at 100% they should be right. Doug
