Default BLAcK JACK 55 handleing problems

I have a Blackjack 55 with a modified zenoah 260 lots of power.I have tried 4 different props the latest one is a grimmracer 65x100 2 blade . It is still to small it over revs at full throttle and the bow is pushing causing it io over steer I put weight in the transom wich helped a little but still has half the boat in the water. i want to try some different props. any ideas would be helpful. No room to adjust the angle of the prop because the motor has so much power any flex in the drive twists off the shaft.

6717/3 works on mine! Have Chris at Dasboata make you up one!

Thanks, If I can get a good blank prop I can balance and sharpen a nice prup. I just need to get a good start without buying 20 props. Thanks for the help. will try to get some video next week. Boat ain't no good if you can't transfer the power in the right direction and keep the blue on top,

I bought a grimmracer 670 x 105 (3.64 x 4.13) it solved rhe cavation problem and the boat is very fast. could use some more pitch but it is over steering, I tried more expos and raking the rudder back. but it over steers in a high speed turn and hooks reallly bad even flipped. any ideas, not much trim in the strut as any out of linement causes flex and with this much power it breaks off the shaft,

My BJ55 woulsd always do that. They do not turn good at all (Big wide turns only). You can try turn your radio steering down to about 70%.

I got some pics and it is shooting a big roost. took it out today with the trim down. I made a new rudder with the post welded up front with no tab. I raked it back as far as it would go.It has 25% expos and it handles realy well. going to try it out on a bigger lake this week end where they race. hope to have some help to take some videos. will post next week

I thought raking the rudder back would
cause the bow to drop under speed. IMO

Pushing the bow down will make the steering very touchy
and will dig in and flip on hard turn IMO

When I looked at the pics I noticed a big roost wasting a lot of energy so I trimmed the strut where it is level with the bottom of the boat. It gives it a lot more drive. I made a new rudder. welded the post to the front of the rudder elimitating the tab that helpes it oversteer,. I raked the rudder aft to make it understeer. that helped a lot. The boat is fast but the lake is to small. about the time it gets on the pipe it is time time to turn. more testing thursday am.I need more expierence driving. If I could drive as good as I can fix I would be good. maybe I can find a good driver and his bost could be a winner. hope to get sume videos say at the races.Wish me luck.

I think I tamed the beast. with a lot o expirimenting and gaining driving skills boat is pretty agile for a 20 lb beast. Lake is small and can;t get to full power these tight turns snap off a rudder once in a while but the video tells it all. persistance paid off. I would like to try a bigger lake and see what it can really do

No pics for now I got carried away listening to the pipe cut in and it started accelerating like it had jato. by the time i realized where I was it was too late shore came fast cutting the throttle was useless. It was in shallow water and skim board effect had it sliding out of control. Rudders broke off and prop was the only drag. It slid up the bank all the way to the picnic tables and hit straight on a table leg and split the hull good thing I know how to repair. I did a thread a couple of years on my miss elam I thing it was something like 40 to 0 in 6 in. it came out like perfect . going out to take pics now

Well that does suck. Hit a pontoon with mine and had to retire it. I do miss playing around with the BJ55, I have a Conquest now.

if Icould drive as good as I can fix, I would be much better. pic is repair . need to reinstall motor and new rudders that I made. I moved the post to the front of the rudder and installed a sail winch servo with 188 in oz oz torque. it removed the over steer problem

READYTO RUN TODAY

PIC#1 - WATERPROOF BOX, I THREW AWAY THE STOCK BOX WITH ALL THE PAIN IN THE ASS SCREWS AND PUT IN A TUPPERWARE SNAP TAB BOX. INSIDE IS A 850 THREE CELL LIPO WITH A VOLTAGE REGULATOR WITH LOW VOLT CUT OFF. I88 IN OZ STEERING SERVO, THROTTLE SERVO. REMOTE KILL SWITCH THAT WORKS OFF RETRACT SERVO SWITCH ( DX6 I RADIO WITH A AR6110 RECEIVER) EVERYTHING IS INSTALLED WITH HOT MELT GLUE. ALL OPENINGS SEALED WITH SAME.

PIC#2 BOX FROM OUTSIDE

PIC#3 READY TO RUN AND IT HAS BEEN RUN A LOT

PIC#4
I MADE MY OWN DESIGN RUDDERS, NOTICE POSTS ARE FORWARD WITH NO TAB. IT IMPROVED OVERSTEER ALONG WITH A HIGHTORQUE SERVO ( I THINK 2 RERVOS CAN WORK AGAINST ONE ANOTHER CAUSING ONE TO FAIL. (MY PERSONAL PREF. OTHERS MIGHT DISAGREE) I THREW AWAY THE ACCORIDAN RUDDER SEALS AND USED A PIECE OF CARBON FIBER TUBE, PUT THE PUSHROD THREW AND PUT SHRINK TUBE AROUND THE TUBE WITH A LITTLE OVERLAP ON EACH END AND SEALED THE ENDS WITH GREASE, I PUT THE TUBE THREW THE TRANSOM AND USED 3M 520O TO GLUE IN PLACE, IT IS STILL FLEXIBLE BUT SOLID.

PIC#5 SHOWES MY 500 ML IV DRIP GAS BLADDER AND INSIDE HULL

I REMOVED THE PULL STARTER AND USE A 100 AMP 24 VOLT HIGH TORQUE STARTER

I USE 80% EXPOS ON THE STEERING

PROP IS A GRIM RACER 67X 105-3 BLADE I BALLANCED AND SHARPENED MYSELF. I HAVE MODIFIED THREE OF THE SAME PROPS WITH DIFFERENT SPOON AND CUPS
I MAKE MY OWN DRIVE SHAFTS AND ALL HARDWARE AND COUPLERS.

IT NOW IS FINALLY MANAGEABLE MORE VIDEOS WHEN I CAN GET SOMEONE TO COME WITH ME. I HOPE THAT GOT MOST OF IT. BE GLAD TO SHARE WHAT I FOUND OUT WITH A LOT OT EXPIERMENTING ADD SWIMMING. BENTOAD

There has been some claims that getting rid of them stock water pickups for rudders with pickups is good 2 - 3 mph.
