Default Turbine Mystic Build

Thought Id share my turbine mystic build, its taken over a year to get most of the parts to start my build so here goes.
First of all I had to cut the top deck off,as I was going changing it. It was scary as I thought if I stuff this up, there goes a perfectly good hull. Anyway the dremel came out and of I went to work, cutting this perfectly good hull.
I took my time and I was very pleased with the out come

These photo's were taken over a period of a month from when I started doing the mods to the hull.
Next I had to epoxy the new deck to the hull and tape it down so it wouldnt move while it dried

Here is the pics the next day after the epoxy dried and I was rather pleased with the way the deck and hull came out.
I used Hysol 9462 to glue the two together. Once the hysol was dry I used carbon fibre on the seam on the inside with epoxy.

I made the turbine mounts up and epoxied them into the hull. Made the stuffing tubes up, and made the radio box up and mounted all the hard ware into the box. The wole boat was moked up but I didnt take any pics with the turbines sitting in tthe hull.

Nice work.

Why was it necessary to modify the deck?

Thanks for the nice comments.
The colour scheme will be Aqua Mania. It was a toss up between Aqua Mania and JBS Racing.
I modified the deck to have something a little different here in Australia. I preffer this look anyway compared to the standed hull.
Anyway back to rubbing the hull back.....

OK, finally finished rubbing the hull back, all came out well. Now the hull will get one more light coat of primer and of to the painter. The painter will give it its final rub back before he paints it.

Going to be really nice when she's done. Can't wait to see her finished and some video.

My friend Walter owns this Twin Turbine Mystic. Neat boats for sure.

Is that the same mystic as the one that use to have a air scoop on top and some air inlet on the cowl? If so why did he change the cowl and no more scoop?
I see they changed the exhaust to round as well. Its a very nice boat.
That was one of the mystics that inspired me to build my own.
Thanks for the pics.

Hi Guys,

Great build Wetsleeves, these big mistic hulls are awesome, I want one. To big for our lake MickieB ..... hehe....opps, your dam now. Do you run on lake Illawarra or at Kiama ? I know theres a great spot just beside the freeway alittle south of the Kiama turnoff.

Cheers

Chris, I wont run this boat in salt water. I will test it out in a small pond not far from me. I may even take it down to Dunmor lake (ponds) but not sure yet.
I might even take it to mickies puddle, I mean dam. Sorry mickie lol.
Im just trying to get another cat running as its a twin engine and one of the motors seems to run ok for a minute or two then it starts to play up, but thats another story.
I will be in touch Mick, havent forgotten.

No Probs peter, we are going to our puddle tomorrow, water lever is near it's max at the moment getting close to be about 350m x 300m , and full of fish. What twin cat are you running? i am in the middle of a 72" cat build at the moment, still in the plug building phase but also am hoping to run twins in each sponson.
Have you got an idea on when we may see some footage of your turbing build ?
I must say i am very envious as running turbines are the pinicle of rc boating for me, just not within my reach yet.
