cy engine no spark
Hi all I have a CY engine with no spark any ideas.I have just fitted a new coil and plug but still nothing.could it be the coil trigger and what do the three wires do.I joined the two red and just left the black with tape on it.also the flywheel magnets there is three of them the middle one is quite strong but the outer two seem weak is this right. The key way seems to be fine so it has not slipped I am at a loss here and have no more ideas.Any help guys and hello from Australia.Shayne

Also make sure area of coil mounting is free of corrosion ( Even run a file across it to clean up ) and back of coil in contact with case is clean and bare metal.
* Unless coil has a good ground back to crankcase spark won't happen !
I know ... Duh ... Try another plug also

RE: cy engine no spark
disconect your kill switch if there is one and see if that helps if it does could be a dodgy switch.
also use a cardboard buisness card to set the pick up coil gap its about the correct thickness.

No, you don't want to ground that wire or it'll never start!

RE: cy engine no spark
Thanks everyone to answer a few questions yes it has two coils, yes I did clean under the coil,no kill switch, checked for spark in the dark, tryed a new plug even hooked new plug to a wipper snipper plenty spark there,By the way this is a new motor never been run had it some months just sitting on a shelf.I picked up a new coil from hobby shop still no spark. The only thing left is the coil trigger or maybe the flywheel is bad.Anyone know if the magnets could be too weak is that possible and how can I test the coils.Anymore ideas welcome.

Uncle
I had a Zen that had the plug connector misaligned at the cap
it only touched the side of the plug wire.
Gave me fits, if you can pull the plug sheild off & check it.
