S520 Question
Hi Just wondering if one pulse water pump is enough for a S520 ( cooling the heads only)? i was thinking that 2 would be better?
There are 2 nipples comming out of the crackcase, are these for the water pump pulse line or something else?
What is the standard settings for the 929 carby's?
Thanks for your help
Mick

RE: S520 Question
Ok i'm convinced, this was one minor thing i missed when i bought the critta's. Ok then where do you tap into for the pulse pumps? from the exhaust manifold? Pictures would be nice.
Interesting to see how you have progressed with your build Ian? you miss the jordo F1 outboard? i think it will be back on the water very soon.
Thankyou all
Mick

RE: S520 Question
when you tap the isolators tap all the way thru to the intake opening. rcmks are different than zens in that respect. where as in a zen the pulse fitting would be tapped to the small pulse hole of the isolator. hope that made since. back when warehouse hobbies sold rcmks for a brief time they didn't do this on a buddies rcmk and he had problems. later he talked to gizmo and they straightened him out. don't take my word for it though, i would talk to gizmo none the less and find out for yourself as this was a while back.

RE: S520 Question
Well that's a shame, just as well that we have a good sized dam to run it on down the south coast, We will have to wait and see.
How is the offshore class going at Penrith? have they got it all running yet?

RE: S520 Question
we do run offshore on the oval course if enough boats turn up on the day
the reason your mate cant run the turbine boat at and AMPBA clubs is because our insurance will not cover turbine motors
same as pocket bike motors 90% of offshore guys iv spoken to want to ban pocket bike based motors and i must say im on there side as well

RE: S520 Question
i know that its to do with safety we dont run offshore events over here so we run on an oval course and our insurance and public liability wont allow it
plus we dont look at pocket bike motors as a Rc boat engine they were not made for that job and i know zenoah motors weren't to start with but the build a line of
hobby engines as time went on and so our insurance looks at zenaohs and Quickdraw's and RCMK type of motors a hobby built engines
plus if we let some one with a blata engine run a boat and it gets away from them and hit someone say good bye to having a boat club to run at the insurance brokers here in australia
are picky and dont like to make it easy for people so why invite the trouble

RE: S520 Question
Rather than discriminate against those wanting to use pocket bike or larger motors you should be working with them, and to say lets not allow a pocket bike motor or blata but lets allow an inline twin is just discrimination and snobery.I highly doubt insurers are harder to please in Aus than here but for instance the BMPRS here charges its members just £10 a year and that covers upto 50.8 cc,i think its the same with Omra.Organisations should be working with people not against, this way progress will be made, isnt it better to have more than one or two engine suppliers ? i think so that way the prices will allways be competetive.I dont think a boat running a blata or pocket bike motor would hurt anymore than a zenoah or twin powered boat would.

RE: S520 Question
man i wish it was that cheap here we pay $40.00 each member per year for AMPBA insurance then another $40.00 per year for your club membership then we pay $10.00 every race meet
and we have meetings twice a month most months of the year
at the end of the day if our insurance is saying no then we as club members will stand by that so we can keep running boats

RE: S520 Question
I tend to agree, sometimes just being able to run some kind of boat is better than no boats.
Even though a 39cc blata motor will not push the boat any quicker that a 52cc Zenoah or RCMK, if the insurance for some reason won't allow it then the decision is basically made.
It's a shame but rules are rules i guess.
