riva out...new plans/ideas in
I got a quote on the Riva hulls and they were way out of my range for the time being so my ideas have shifted. I want to build one of the followingExpresscrafts: sea hawk, phantom II (I like this option the least), phantom, GTX (I like this option the most), cheeta, arapaho, or an apache 70"(my second favorite option). I also looked at a PMB Miami 55 and I liked it too. Any pros or cons about the hulls that I mentioned would be great. Istill want to run twins (2, 1 cylinder) zenoahs...maybe zen7's? I also still want to use a submerged drive setup...is it possible? I even entertained the idea of a rio 51z but i really want to build my own setup from the ground up. Let me know what you guys think! thanks!

GTX is my favorite in that line up. Works well with an inline zenoah. There have been a few builds with that configuration. When you say submerged drive do you mean exiting the transom or through the bottom of the hull? Next one I do will probably have an Arneson drive out the transom with an inline for power. The apache is not a bad hull either but [link=http://imageevent.com/justaddwata/myboats/xxxgtx]does not dress up near as nice as the GTX[/link].

You'll have to change your handle to "don'twantariva" now!!
I have run a Miami from PMB, ran mine with one tuned Zenoah and it was plenty, the boat is not huge so twins or side by side would be very tight in there, not sure how it would cope with the weight either.

Another thing you have to consider is the shipping to you from the UK not to mention the import duty. That said if you dont mind the cost of shipping and duty how about one of these? this is one of my Hulls i call the Arrow and inlines fit in here a treat, heres one just sat in there for the pics but as you can see they fit well and this hull is fast.Heres a few pics and one of her sat next to one of my Apache 58,s,not mass produced hulls and top notch and run awesome ask anyone who runs them or do a search for waverider apache etc .I think Toms (expresscraft) your best bet for a hull as hes in the States and his hulls are very nice too.

Just physics. If you wan to go fast, you need to go with the flow and go surface drive.
Can't get away from it.

It's (almost) nonsence :-) ... we've tested a Octura X452 on my submerged FSR-V multi-hull ,
and my buddy the same prop on his PPB-nitrocat with surface-drive .. both using a CMB-RS91 and PMB exhaust.
Absolutely no speed-difference. ..
Difference is ... on 52mm it stops for me .. he can go to X457/3 .. of course there is a speed difference then.
Find a strut where the stuffingtube is fitting in , stick strut through your hull , fix to alu angle , close gaps with silicone-putty.
Once you find the right prop , you can cut the unnecessary strut parts and epoxy the strutparts into the hull.

Hi Henk.
To a point. As you know, it is much easier to get a far better drive / thrust angle with surface drive than it is with submerged, unless you are going to go with flexible submerged shafts. I had assumed solid and angled submerged drive.
Surface drive has top speed advantages in being much more adjustble not to mention the efficiencies and ability to run larger props.
I do run submerged drive on two of my boats and enjoy the handling advantges, I think over a given course the lap times would be close.

In rc boats and real life full size boats its been proven time and time again that surface piercing propeller drive is faster.
