Hello, I'm looking for some helpful information on converting a 36" sprint cat that was nitro powered to a gas. I'm wanting to put a Zenoah G260 in it. Can someone please help me out with this that has had experience with doing this? I need to basically know how far forward to place the motor for a correct CG so that the boat will perform good. I also need to know how to add wood to my stringers just past the front bulk head. If someone can help me out with this build, I sure would appreciate it. Please let me know. Thanks, Jamie.

hey jamie, i think if you look around you will see that build. i have not done it but i think you need to put the motor as far forward as it will go, you could remove the old stringers and in stall new ones or just add what you need and glass the extra wood in place, either way make sure you clean and sand the areas that will get glassed,after that i think its a pretty straight forward cat build,post pics of what you have it will get more attention. and you will get more help. the hardware if it used a 1/4 cable will probably work, you just may need to reinstall the new cable and stuffing box to fit your zen.

I have just done a similar thing with an aeromarine 36' cat, though it is now running a modified redline Zenoah.
A few things to note is that I placed the motor up against the bulkhead and put the gas bag in the nose.also degreased the hull with degreaser prior to starting
as there was nitro residew everywhere.
We have nicked named her the wild child as we overpropped her on the first run and are now playing with props to get some control.

we were running a ABC 2617/3 blade 10 rake prop.

we've tried a AS 7015/2 blade and she runs quite fast and stable, hopefully tomorrow I will try some others and maybe gps her.

hey jvdd i would try a 7016 2 blade prop, ur prop still sounds loaded that load has to go somewhere. it torques the hull,(bad handling) you will also go faster when your prop is turning the rpms the motor can put out, you are pretty close, its a lot of motor for a little hull but should be fine, if you have a club near bye drop in and see if you can try some props without buying everyone you want to try, in that reguard its tough to it alone. looks fun.

im sorry i just looked at ur pics, and saw the 3 blade, you already have a 7015 2 blade, well the info is still good it might help someone, and your boat still looks fun

Yeh It's a fun thing to play with, the weather was crap today so I will have to wait untill next weekend to do some more prop testing.
I've got a few 2 and 3 bladers I want to try.

Thats a 36" team believer cat not a sprintcat. Looks kinda cool with the peice you added on.....I'd get the pipe lower instead of pointing up to the sky.
