Rio 51 Shaft & what else...?
Through my own stupidity, I did not re-tighten the strut housing when greasing the flex cable and forgot to also place a shaft saver. I have now lost the following:
inner strut,
prop,
drive dog
flex cable with shaft
prop nut
Before I place an order online can someone who knows there way around the Rio 51 confirm that I am not missing something else? I can't remember what else was on there.
Thanks! Sandy

Thanks Dave,
I can't see thrust bearings on the Rio 51 spare parts list and don't remember seeing them on the boat. Anyone else, any other suggestions?
Sandy

RE: Rio 51 Shaft & what else...?
I would price all the parts out and see if going to an aftermarket strut system would be better. I have heard a few complain about their drivelines breaking so now would be a great time to upgrade. Go to hor racing ,they have a great looking strut for $50 with flex shaft. My stock rio hardware has been great ,but if it breaks ,that would be my next step. Also on the dock you can usually find speedmaster strut used for a great deal.

Thanks Steve, the parts aren't that expensive. I have the smaller stuff at home, I think the only thing I am going to need to buy for now is the flexshaft and inner strut. About $US35 in total. I haven't had any problems with anything on it so far, so will keep it as it is. However, I will take a peek at the Hor racing site.

RE: Rio 51 Shaft & what else...?
So....my Rio 51 flexshaft and inner strut arrived today, but I have no idea how these go together. Is it just brute force for pushing the inner strut over the prop shaft or am I missing a catch / easy trick somewhere. I have been gentle with it today so far, but am clueless on how it goes together. Looked up the Rio manual and can not see anything either. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Sandy
