Default Pro boat shockwave 55ss

Just picked up a pro boat shockwave 55ss. It's been sitting, so it needs a little TLC.im going to get carb rebuild kit, all new fuel and water cooling lines to start with.

If anyone has spare parts or knows where I can get them please let me know. I need a canopy and for the life of me can't find one yet.

Anyone with info on these? Do's, don'ts etc.

Are they a decent boat?

You probably won't find one around, unless someone is parting a wrecked hull out. You could make one for itout of 1/16" plywood and get it as close as you can to the original.

I know my chances are slim to none. I figured forums would be the best place to find one if I could. If I have to I'll probably fab one out of fiberglass. It won't be super fancy, probly just a smooth cover.

If there is a hobby shop or an owner of one that has a good hull with the hatch, they'll probably only sell the whole boat and won't part it out.I've sold a couple of hulls that people wanted me to sell them just the hatch cover, which would leave me with an incomplete boat which would be harder to sell.Did you try to track down the previous owner and see what happened to the original hatch ?

I bought this. At an auction. I'm sure it was somewhere in there, but other people bought some totes and stuff that were near the area this was. I looked around and didn't see it. Im sure it went home with someone else. I don't know who, and I'm not sure I could find out. I ended up with 4-5 radios that were just in a group that I bought. It was kind of a cluster. This boat and a 1/5 scale I bought were towards the end of the RC stuff ( I was saving my money for these two) had I known the boat and buggy went for a real good price I would have more. I managed to get a decent amount of stuff. But I would have bought more.

I ended up cutting my losses and getting a brand new carb. I also put a brand new gas tank in it comma and new water lines. I also put new Bellows on it. I got it running pretty good now. I may need just a tiny bit of fine-tuning.

I ended up making a new canopy out of fiberglass. It looks okay looks kind of just like a tonneau cover. It will work for now until I find a canopy ( if I can find one)

I was impressed with the power and speed of this boat, and especially impressed at how sharp it can corner and how fast it can corner.

looks good but remember that gas motor needs to breath, just run it without the hatch, until you are happy with how it runs, then put the hatch on and deal with making it work that way. but really 1 step at a time. have fun.

got it running pretty good. its liquid cooled and the hatch that is factory for that doesn't look like its vented. there are vents in the front of the boat and tubes out the back are open. it really didn't take too much to tune. out of all the stuff i bought that day this is by far the coolest. its pretty fast, is pretty loud. and is a lot of fun.

The factory hatch cover looks like it has the scoops open in the front.Loud isn't always good,as it may get you some unwanted attention. You could get a silencer/muffler for the end of the tuned pipe or put an internal stinger into the tuned pipe. http://www.mastonsrcmarine.com/t-mod-mufflers

the holes in that hatch cover are above the servo tray. the engine is in front of that. I could add some venting to mine pretty easy though. its all fiberglass.

I've never heard one of these run before. its all stock, just know its a lot louder than my hpi, but it (the hpi) has a muffler on it. I may read more up on quieting it down. but if i stick to just running it in the pond, i may not.

are those mufflers real restrictive? how much re-tuning is required with one?

Keep in mind that getting hot air out is just as important as fresh air in. I see you are from up north so give this some thought, Have you ever taken a shower in your house when it was cold out side and your window normally in the shower is open? propbably taking a hot shower with your bathroom door closed and all is good, The hot air in the bath room creates pressure that does not allow cold air in. all is good until someone opens the door and you get blasted with cold air. The same thing happens in a model boat. Make sure that door is open so the motor can breath. You might find it's just fine right now. But you also may fing that it really wakes up and you simply did not know any better. I am not pointing a finger at you so please do not take it that way but others view and read your thread so I am hoping it does help some people. If one of them does turn out to be you that is even better, You can also cut out wood detail parts, seats, dash scoops ect and make them awesome then just screw them on from the bottom of your fiberglass sheet and it will look very nice as well as personal.
