RE: Reed valve crank case
Reeds valve don't work at very high rpms
The reeds cant work quick enough for the engine.
Then because they are high reving you have the problem if they break up and go through the engine.

Nitro look up Trevor Simpson. He is the man when it comes to reed motors. But still think a well tuned 26PUM would run circles around it.

RE: Reed valve crank case
Im intreged by this post.....
I looked into building a reed motor with Powervalve but on reading up and asking around come to the conclusion that reeds just where not the way to go.
Mainly the Higher RPMs and the small size of intake means your very limited to the number of reeds you can get in. The More reeds the More RPMs seem to be gained due to them having to open less for the amount of air/fuel mix going through.Thats why Boyesen come up with V force reeds for larger 2 strokes. they had 2 sets of reeds in the case doubling what was there in the stock machines giving higher RPMs and better throttle responce!
Rotary valves... altho there is more wight they made a big improvement to the highter RPMS in engines..
But then again I surpose all this depends on how the engines are tuned in the first place..How and where you want to get the Power. If you tuning to get low end torque reeds may add to the power your gaining... If your getting the Power by revving the engine hard then i dont see reeds working.
This is just my theory on the subject.
